Unquestionable Presence - один из первых альбомов в стиле techno death metal по сей день остается одним из лучших в этом жанре. А максимальное наполнение этого CD различными демо-раритетами вообще поднимает его ценность на запредельную высоту.
Слушать минимум три раза подряд по кругу!

Второй альбом королей техно-дэта Atheist - пожалуй, лучший их альбом, самой же группе можно смело присваивать (хоть официально, хоть неофициально) титул САМОЙ техничной группы в металле! Собственно, выбирать в этом гипотетическом вопросе, на мой взгляд, приходится только лишь из двух вариантов - Atheist, или Sadist. На Unquestionable Presence американцы ещё более прибавили в технике по сравнению с Piece Of Time (1990), и самое главное, их музыка стала более взвешенной, более мудрой, более осмысленной. Высокотехничный и умный стаф где-то на стыке техно-дэта и прогрессив-дэта. Такие вещи, как Mother Man, Your Life's Retribution и особенно An Incarnation's Dream и The Formative Years (мои фавориты) - это что-то такое, максимально приближенное к высшей степени гениальности! Ничего похожего никогда не слышал. Что же касается джазовых элементов, характерных для музыки группы в более поздний период творчества, то таковых элементов здесь самый мизер, ну пару раз за альбом по пол-минуты (первый раз - лишь в 5-й вещи, где гениальная басуха Тони Чоя что-то такое джазоподобное провоцирует). Основную же массу материала альбома я охарактеризовал бы, как "гениальное прогрессив-дэтовое безобразие". Рассказывать о такой музыке очень непросто, да и, в общем-то, не к чему. Советую каждому послушать этот альбом (кто ещё не послушал), и расширить рамки своего музыкального кругозора. 10/10

от родоначальников стиля 
советую всем кто не слышал . такие альбомы нужно иметь на фирменных СД или виниле, или как минимум на лицухе.

Один из моих любимейших альбомов в тяж. музыке, плюс, как я считаю, альбом более интересный, чем "Piece of Time", который почему-то в большей степени на слуху. Ритм-секция просто неимоверная, и это единственный альбом Atheist, где ритм-секцию представляет связка Tony Choy (bass) - Steve Flynn (drums). Ритм-секция шпарит совершенно самозабвенно, многоступенчато и многоходово, динамично und прострельно (особенно восхищают пробежки по томам - и тут даже главное не как, а в какой момент и с какой динамикой.. ох уж эти тома..) Если заглянуть в справочник, чтобы выяснить, где же ещё был задействован данный замечательный техничный драммер, то окажется, что затем, кроме как в Atheist и затем, лет 15 спустя, в Gnostic товарищ Flynn нигде не участвовал, что удивительно и несколько печально, т.к. его мастерство - это уровень не ниже знаменитых Reinert / Hoglan. Помимо восхитительной ритм-секции, хочется отметить крайне интересный риффинг (например, просто шедевральные моменты в "Unquestionable Presence" (03.28) и в "Your Life's Retribution" (02.38), "Enthralled in Essence" - в начале), и своеобразные, экспрессивные соло-партии (например, в "Enthralled in Essence" (01.52), "The Formative Years" (01.31), во второй половине "Your Life's Retribution" ).

Шикарный альбом Мудрёно, закручено, но при этом дико красиво и цепляюще. Описывать все достоинства релиза - можно не лечь спать. Технично, сбивчато, чуть джазовато, прогрессивно, брутально...А главное, с любовью к стилю и самобытностью. Альбом заходит удивительно легко, и, как тут уже было верно отмечено, его хочется сразу же поставить на повтор, ибо 32 минут ничтожно мало. С другой стороны, гениальность здесь не разбавлена и не замутнена ничем...
Чистейший брильянт.

К записи своей второй работы группа подошла, понеся невосполнимые потери в составе: в автокатастрофе погиб великолепный басист Роджер Паттерсон. Правда, он успел сочинить бОльшую часть бас-партий и даже увековечить их на пред-продакшен демо. Для записи оных на альбоме был реквизирован мастер 5-струнного иструмента Тони Чой - участник первого состава Cynic и ещё ряда проектов.
По сравнению с крышесносным дебютником, музыка стала мелодичнее и интеллегентнее, при этом растеряв значительную часть звериной энергии первобытного трэш-дэта. Гитары перестали быть дополнением к ритм-секции и стали вести собственную осознанную мелодическую линию. В плане звучания гитары и бас также стали ЕЩЁ более разделены в общем миксе, чем это было на Piece of Time. И если 32 минуты первенца проносились по ушам трэш-дэтовым катком, создавая чрезвычайно монолитный эффект, то такой же по хронометражу сабж куда больше располагает к расслушиванию деталей (несмотря на то, что напор здесь всё ещё довольно существенный) и смакованию альбома попесенно. Не лишённая романтизма обложка, на которой некто сидит на неизвестной планете на фоне звёздного неба и двух больших лун, на сей раз очень неплохо сочетается с душевными и красивыми, немного космическими гитарными соло. В треке №5 в наличии акустическая гитара.
Мои фавориты: открывашка Mother Man с безумным галопирующим ритмом и торжественными гитарными соло, тревожная Unquestionable Presence, Enthralled in Essence с просто охренительно красивыми партиями лид-гитары, и The Formative Years с ломовым вступительным риффом и пронзительными соло. Остальные 4 песни мне нравятся несколько меньше, но тоже очень хороши.
11/12. Снова офигительно. И снова уже история. Золотой фонд.
P.S. Как и в случае с дебютом - я настоятельно рекомендую ремастер (для CD). Любители винилового звучания, думаю, разберутся сами.
