Я так мало говорил с вами об этом альбоме. Как будто он меня в своё время не пропёр. Как бы ни так! Мегавлиятельный шедевр, индивидуальный прежде всего за счёт своего звучания. Вы когда нибудь слышали что-нибудь подобное, сухое, вкрадчивое, атмосферное и в то же время экстримальное? Ни на одном альбоме нет такого звука, ни на одном концерте Макинтошу и ко не удалось воплотить эти песни живьём аналогично записи. Если до этого Paradise Lost были вполне обыкновенными дэт-металлистами и их интересы были вполне предсказуемыми (Celtic Frost, Possessed и тп, читай буклет Early Demos), то здесь им удалось смастерить недосягаемый образец тёмного металла, который они назвали "Gothic". А вот почему я одобряю этот термин, по-отношению к группе того времени:
ЦИТАТА Когда мы только начали, мы играли со многими группами такими, как Napalm Death, Extreme Noise Terror и Carcass. Мы были чем-то в том же духе, но также мы делали и дум-метал. Материал, похожий на Pentagram, Black Sabbath и Candlemass. На 2-м альбоме "Gothic", мы решили внести немного раннего готик-рока и, возможно какие-то классические элементы. Этот альбом я бы действительно классифицировал как готик-метал, если вы желаете использовать этот термин. ЦИТАТА - Да, и на Вас, очевидно, оказали влияние различные жанры. Какие ваши любимые группы? - Мне определенно очень нравится Тони Айомми. Мне нравится Cult, Sisters Of Mercy, Sioxsie And The Banshees, Джонни Марр и The Smiths. Всякие смеси с металом и роком.
