To everyone who bagged this release and then took a swipe by declaring Mayhem as Gheyham.

You're all spoilt little fuckwits who think they got a critical perspective cause they download a few fucking metal MP3's.

Mayhem are a unique band capable of exacting an aural ferocity second to none.

Chimera was a masterpoice of tempered rage and angst. Purely driven by emotion and it constructed a sound scape that by each song got more and more intense.

No other band on the planet has Mayhem's ability to create such thick and menacing walls of sound, the way their song structures from begining to end intensify as they progress to breaking point. 'Slaughter of Dreams' is an excellent example, just when you think they can't intensify the song anymore, they go right ahead and crank it to up to a level that leaves the brain reeling in it's aftermath. Brilliant song structure, utterly superb musicianship and song writting, perfect, just plain perfect delivery and execution.

I have always believed Mayhem (even Emperor) to be like Mekong Delta, in that most people just don't fucking get it! These bands are visonary, way ahead of their time.

'A Grand Declaration of War', was a masterpiece precursor to just how great this band can be. They shattered the myth that Black metal is constrained to barking dogs and bought it into the 21st century with a fucking bang!

This new album was an experiment in soundscapes, they turned all expectations and notions of what a "Studio" recording should be, into a new dimension in atmospheric deconstruction of a genre that was built on extremities. How is this NOT Black Metal?

Gritty, dark, obscure, menacing, with a dark undetow of hidden danger and menace. Like a dream were nothing is clearly explained and things make even less sense. Thier new sound, evokes that to such an exact degree. Just look at the majority of the responses here, mostly confused, unsettled by the 'sound' of the recording, you post here trying to make sense of it all and obvious reaction to such an eleborate sound.

So it does not sound like every other Black Metal Album out there. I mean why the fuck would any of you expect Mayhem to sound like just some other fucking Black Metal band, or even worse, what makes you think the sign of a good band is repetition.

They haven't released ' DE MYSTERIIS DOM SATHANAS' part 2, so that makes them gheyhem. What the fucking fuck!?

Listen if that's all you want in music, regurgitation, then go fucking listen to METALLICA, Obituary and hundreds of other bandwagon bands with zero creativity and no guts to experiment. There just fucking tools of their record companies.

All the negativity surrounding this release and the band, is bullshit. Mayhem can blow any other band out of the fucking water, their songs are unique, complex, monumentally intense experiences.

You peole need to get off your high horses and consider the new material from the perspective of what the band was trying to accomplish. Wich in fact they have succeded, they yet again created another unique slab of Metal, that gets under your skin.

What more could you possibly want?
