Прослушивание этого старенького релиза подобно путешествию на машине времени. Ребята играют неторопливый классический техно-дэт начала 90-х, сразу вспоминаются работы Pestilence, Death, Morgoth этого периода. Gorguts смело можно ставить с ними в один ряд - ряд отцов-основателей данного направления.

Об этом альбоме трудно писать что-то конкретно - хороший добротный техно-дэт, типичный (в хорошем смысле) для начала 90-х годов. До "авангардности" Obscura ещё довольно далеко - здесь, по крайней мере, никакого "обскуризма" ещё не наблюдается. В музыке присутствует большая доля прогрессивности - не в том смысле, что канадцы смешивают техно-дэт и прогрессив в единое целое, нет, это делается больше кусками: идёт техно-дэт-нарезалово, затем кусок умных прогрессив-дэтовых ходов, затем снова техно-дэт, и т.д. Львиная доля здесь именно техно-дэта, прогрессивностью время-от-времени стаф лишь разбавляется. Вот, например, композиция Condemned To Obscurity - с большей долей прогрессивности, а Hideous Infirmity - напротив, сплошь по техно-дэту. Весьма разнообразна The Erosion Of Sanity, а Orphans Of Sickness - наоборот, одна из самых доходчивых. Порадовало интро на акустической гитаре в начале Dormant Misery, очень красиво сделано. Понравился вокал, качественный гроул, самое то для техно-дэта. По всем параметрам, солидный альбом прекрасной группы. 8.5/10

на мой взгляд,альбом является переходным от смерть металла старой школы к металлу авангардному
мне он нравится разве что как соединяющее звено между Considered Dead и Obscura

Вот здесь все и началось. Из-за ширмы на сцене постепенно стали появляться проговые элементы. Пока они еще малы и их немного в сравнении с остальными участниками действия. Да и проявление присутствия этих элементов не столь значительно. Альбом несамостоятелен, в том смысле что его можно рассматривать только как промежуточную стадию между Considered Dead и Obscura.

насчет самостоятельности я думаю что в 93 году об этом никто не думал, вполне себе уникальная боевая единица, о которой и через 20-30 лет говорят с уважением

А я для себя сразу определил, еще слушая заглавную композицию, что все ворчество (во всяком случае на протяжении трех альбомов) единое целое. Можно даже проделать такой кульбит - надергать из Considered Dead, The Erosion of Sanity и Obscura песен, укомплектовать так, чтобы развитие шло от начала к концу альбома и, в принципе, получится шедевр техно-авангардного дэта. Подсунуть кому-нибудь несведущему - ни за что не заподозрит, что это компиляция из 3-х разных альбомов (ну только если по качеству записи).
