When I heard this album for the first time it didn't impress me, but after a few more listenings I got to like it a lot and it's still excellent. Rom 5:12 is different than most of their albums. Marduk didn't release another ultra-fast blast beats album. They have combined slow and fast tracks into one album and did it very well. Vocals and shrieks by Mortuus are incredible as always. This album has a specific atmosphere of Medieval Europe, Avignon Papacy, plagues, death, vanity, just Danse Macabre. Some Gregorian chants. Therefore it's a little bit similar to Funeral Mist - Salvation. Best tracks: Cold Mouth Prayer, Imago Mortis, Accuser/Opposer, Vanity of Vanities, Womb of Perishableness. Great album.

To add, this specific so-called medieval atmosphere can be heard in La Grand Danse Macabre and Plague Angel. Not that straightforwarded and "into the face" like, but one in an appropriate state of mind can hear it in the inner depths of that releases.

''La Grande Danse Macabre'' yes. ''Plague Angel'' is very warlike, but indeed. Some songs reminds about Medieval Period.

Not that warlike - you know it stands aside from PDM though it`s filled with speed, a lot blast beats, anger and fury. But the music path of total extermination that can be vividly seen in PDM for instance is lacked there. On the contrary it`s a deeper look into the music. Fast tracks mixed with slow and specific atmosphere rule it all. This can be also said about their "second" war era albums like Frontschwein and Viktoria.

I think Marduk has never released a bad album, but for me ''La Grande Danse Macabre'' and ''World Funeral'' are still less interesting than 2004-2007 for instance. When Mortuus has joined Marduk he has incorporated his ideas. That's why their music has changed and sometimes these comparisons to Funeral Mist. Especially here and on ''Wormwood'', due to slow moments and atmosphere, but also on later ''second war era albums''. On the other hand Funeral Has has changed a bit too and it's still a great band.

Здесь хоть какое-то разнообразие появилось. На исписавшегося Моргана, очевидно, было оказано влияние проекта Мортууса. Впрочем, как известно, и эти влияния в итоге выветрились. А на этом альбоме особенно крута композиция с вокалом Алана из Primordial.

For a very long time I hadn`t been able to like LGDM but then I realized that it`s just another side of the band - on the contrast with eerie unhuman annihilation of 1999 it sounded imposing and majestic. Of course there`re trademark ultra fast tracks like Azrael here and there but an overall atmosphere is great. What about WF - I like it a lot. To me, it`s a somewhat continuation of their Nightwing and I like them sound that way. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye.gif)

Good point. I appreciate every album of Marduk, but from these two I prefer ultra-fast tracks, for example ''Slay the Nazarene'', ''With Satan and Victorious Weapons'' or ''World Funeral'', while the slower don't convince me as much as on ''Rom 5:12'', ''Wormwood'' or ''Serpent Sermon'' which is my absolute favourite from these three albums (2007-2012).

BTW ''Nightwing'' has a very Medieval atmosphere due to songs about Vlad the Impaler. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/25.gif)

на вормвуде и серпент сермоне его предостаточно. да и на фронтшвайн есть но уже меньше.
Последний - да, будто без влияния, поэтому Виктория и довольно тривиальна и относительно слаба.
ПС: А, блть, последний Фюнерал Мист слушаешь и понимаешь что из последнего Мардука ушло.
