"Nearly a decade has passed since the last album from Norwegian extreme metalists Enthral was released (not counting the 2010 mini-album Spiteful Dirges), but Obtenebrate, their monumental fourth effort, will prove to be more than worth the wait. Joining core members Gunnhild Bratset (guitar)and Kjetil Hektoen (drums, vocals) on bass is Kai Еsvik (Whip, Virus live), and the trio have created a black monolith of an album that should appear on many a Best of 2012-poll come the end of the year.Obtenebrate is like a malign force, pullling you in and leaving you smothered in its wake. Clocking in at nearly 70 minutes, yet feeling like 50, it is as technically adept, imaginative and diverse as it is brutal, intense and dark. Death, black or dark metal - Enthral encompass these and more. Having subsisted in the Norwegian black metal underground since 1995, yet never really getting past the "critics favourite" mark, it is about time people take notice of Enthral. Judging by this album anything else seems downright unlikely." ©

Obtenebrate - зазубренный серп Мрачного Жнеца, нагнетающий грозовую атмосферу и разрезающий почерневшую реальность
...лезвиями музыки издевательства и уничтожения.
ENTHRAL, как встарь, ожесточён и хочет крови. Основание здесь - Дух и Злоба Black Metal, а оружие - резкие агрессивные риффы и свинцовая тяжесть.
Это тот путь, по которому могли пойти SATYRICON после Rebel Extravaganza, кабы блеск бамперов "Порше" не залепил глазья бельмом алчности.

Ни о чем.. До "Ребела" ребяткам,как до Китая раком.. Ни одного цепляющего рифа,мелодии,в отличие от Бунта..Наверное это сейчас модно,собирать в кучу самые отстойные гитарные переборы и жужжания,накладывать все это на еще более бесструктурные ритмы,в итоге получая куски непонятной субстанции,минут по 8-10.. Некоторые ребятки умудряются даже трехминутную "песню" сделать настолько унылой,безликой и напрягающей,что она слушается как ЕП средних размеров..

альбом - говно.
прослушал половину на бандкампе - никаких эмоций, кроме скуки, не вызвало.
вот яркий пример попсовости звучания. и композиционной попсовости тоже.
ранние не слушал и не буду.

Да, альбом суров и черен, однако определенной интеллигентности выраженной в нем ненависти, которой они добились в "Subterranean Movement" ему не хватает. Стало проще, по-большей части средне-темпово, а все достойные мелодические темы уложены на спаренные гитарные переборы, что однообразит картину. Короче хорошо, но было лучше.

Были б песни минуты по 3 были, может и можно было это слушать, а так 9 довольно однообразных треков, в среднем по 7 минут, довольно сложно вытерпеть...
...а вообще, музыка наверно не их тема, в конце девяностых они что то мелодичное пытались делать, тут что то быстрое и злобное - итог: ни в том ни в этом особых успехов не добились, сложно их выделить среди сонма похожих групп...
