Hannibal Barca is one of the greatest military leaders of antiquity, the sworn enemy of Rome and the last stronghold of Carthage. He possessed the gift to rule over people, which was expressed in unlimited obedience, in which he knew how to keep his multi-tribal and multilingual troops, who never rebelled against him. Often referred to by Napoleon, Hannibal is still considered one of the greatest tactical geniuses of mankind today. The heroic path included crossing the mighty Rhone River, crossing the winter Alps on war elephants, invading Italy and fighting the greatest army of Rome.

A nine-year-old boy, washing his hands in blood, swore to his father that he would be a relentless enemy of Rome. The son of Hamilcar, hero of the First Punic War, was destined for a glorious but tragic future, full of victories and defeats. Hannibal carried the oath through his whole life, did not give up even after the surrender, continuing his anti-Roman activities. And it is even true that he did not see how, half a century later, the Romans razed Carthage to the ground.

This is a story about the most daring and brave military maneuver of the Ancient World, about a man who approached his dream at the distance of an outstretched sword, about loyalty to the country and an oath. Hannibal flew extremely close to his sun, and it slowly burned him up over the course of ten long years of endless marches and skirmishes in the south of Italy, which bled the Carthaginian army. And like a verdict on the words of a comrade-in-arms: "You know how to win, but you do not know how to use the victory." Many years after the start of the war, the great commander, who won major victories with the numerical superiority of the enemy, relying on a sharp tactical mind and unexpected moves, eventually fell from his own weapon, skillfully taken over by Scipio Africanus. Three times beaten by Hannibal in the first years of the war, he learned a lot from the enemy and cold-bloodedly outplayed him in a foreign field. Thus ended the era of Hannibal, who almost brought the great Rome to its knees. The Latin expression "Carthage must be destroyed" came into effect.
