Ничего не ждала до прослушивания, но OaC мне понравился. Не отношу себя к упоротым ретроградам, но к новшествам привыкаю долго. Вокальные партии хорошие и разнообразные, слушать интересно. Но музыка.. кхм. Очень неоднородная. Казалось бы идёт музыкальная линия, а потом брейк-брейк-брейк и чота другое уже начинается. Эдакий ДаДа приём, но мне показалось немного бессодержательным и макулатурным, не смотря на неплохую лирику и вокальную работу.
Вряд ли я стала бы гонять такое часто.

А никто не в курсах, кто автор музыки? Teloch?
Как-то странновато, т.к. его же работа в Nidingr (более понятная и прямолинейная) и особенно в The Konsortium (временами взрывная) настраивала на другой лад. Не ожидал здесь услышать такие замутки.

Burzum mastermind and noted recluse Kristian "Varg" Vikernes has allegedly made a troubling discovery regarding Mayhem’s upcoming album “Esoteric Warfare,” and is not a happy camper.

“It contains a hidden Christian message,” states the noted Norwegian black metaller, 41. “I knew there was something off about that damned song the second I heard it, and now I know why.”

The new song to which Vikernes refers is titled “Psywar,” which Mayhem premiered through Decibel Magazine in February.

“You need to listen to it on the limited edition 7” EP. That’s the only way you’ll really hear it. Otherwise, it’ll just give you this really… icky feeling you won’t be able to describe, which sucks, sort of like that light feeling of nausea when you wake up, but can’t throw up to get rid of it. Just like that. Where you know there's something wrong, but feel powerless to do anything about it because you don't even know where to start.

“But isolate the problem, and you’ll have it all figured out. You all have been pranked royally. I just wonder why those guys didn’t release this song for April Fools.”
What is the hidden message, exactly?

“It’s not really one message," Vikernes told Metalunderground.com. "It’s several, sort of scattered throughout the track. But you can only hear it on the 7” EP, played backwards. There’s some very subtle backmasking during the chorus – ”

He caught himself. “Well, more of a refrain. Even Mayhem hasn’t stooped to popcorn choruses yet. But anyway, the refrain ‘Psywar, Psywar,’ and so on? Play it backwards, and it says, ‘Worship, worship.’”

When asked why this was out of line with the black metal genre, Vikernes insisted, “Because the line ‘Your souls undermined,’ when played in reverse, read ‘For God so loved the world.’ That’s from the Gospel of John, Chapter 3, Verse 16. It’s the whole f*cking basis for Christianity. They can’t get that one past me.”

Vikernes, who gained infamy in 1992 for his part in several incidents of church arson, spent fifteen years in prison for the stabbing murder of onetime rival, Mayhem’s then-guitarist Øystein Aarseth, aka Euronymous. A free man since 2009, he has attempted to downplay his previous National Socialist ideology while still identifying with Paganism.

“Which is what really takes the piss out of me, y’know?” Vikernes complained. “I spent fifteen years rotting in a can because of what happened to that Commie Red, [Euronymous] and now here they are still, all these years later, turning something we all helped start into some ridiculous joke. Doesn’t Norwegian Black Metal mean anything anymore? What are they thinking?”

Vikernes admits to being a little on edge. “Odin yes, I’m frightened. I’m frightened for these guys’ kids that will hear this shit and be influenced by it. And other kids out there, kids in Europe who like this kind of metal… Where will it end?

“Europe was once a proud Pagan continent, and I’ve been fighting to return it to its traditional values. Sadly, I don’t think Mayhem represents those values anymore…”

When asked if he would support boycotts, Vikernes nodded vigorously. "Absolutely. One hundred percent. I’ll organize them myself! We cannot let our children listen to this filth.”
