Why? Well, equally-cool names like Black Sabbath, Venom and Pentagram were already taken. But also, the name Lesbian evokes pure, sexually-charged freedom -- and, that's what rock music is all about. [more]

But, enough about the name, let's talk about the Lesbian sound...it's heavy, melodic, dramatic and dynamic. The Seattle based quartet's multifaceted debut album Power Hör on Holy Mountain (Om, Six Organs of Admittance) is considered the birth of the New Wave of American Psychedelic Metal. Each of the four-song, 61-minute album's tracks flowingly shifts moods, dynamics and styles. In any given song, Lesbian deftly lunges from a Black Metal style blast-beat-and-16th-note-guitar-line into 70's style Stoner Rock riffing and then equally effectively leaping into a lush melodic passage reminiscent of Godspeed! You Black Emperor. The band brilliantly blends the best elements of many styles of metal: Doom, Thrash, Black, Progressive and -- yes -- even good old "Heavy" Metal. Fans of bands like Neurosis, Emperor, Skullflower, Boris, Pelican, Sleep and Isis will -- as they say -- lose their shit over Power Hör.

То что я услышал на майспейсе... это канеш авангардно) реально по музыке такой психоделик дум аля... ну даже не знаю Кафедрал какой-нибудь с блекирским скримом. Вобщем музычка такая под настроение и на любителя

emogirl очень, кстати, точно описал это дело... прогрессивный2 Cathedral, так и есть... вокал тут редкий, но вполне приличный, нечто среднее между скримом и гроулом, подхриповатый и спокойный, очень подходит к такой небыстрой размеренной музыке... стонера здесь мало, кот наплакал, разыскивать надо..
удивляет экстремальная продолжительность композиций, зачем делать тему 25 минут, если внутри неё явно живут своей жизнью несколько отдельных фрагментов, некоторые из которых так и просятся под нож?
но в общем и целом это не утомляет, а даже создает правильное настроение... типа мы с вами никуда не спешим, слушаем часовой диск, расслабьтесь и получайте удовольствие... и, что приятно, надоесть не успевает, хотя на грани того..

Действительно, как тут уже было написано по аглицки, смесь чумовая, блэковый вокал, ритм-секция в духе раннего Cathedral, и гитара, меняющая звук, и звучащая, то в духе тяжелого прогрессива 70-х, то с хэви- или блэковым уклоном. Отличный альбом, своей протяженностью нисколько не напрягающий, хотя, как было сказано Язва, есть фрагменты, которые несколько излишни. Хотя, у музыкантов было свое мнение, раз они записали их.
