Скорее не посоветуйте,а напомните банды с рычащим вокалом до 97 года,желательно без особых соплей,но можно и мелодичные,меланхоличные группы.
Первое пришло на ум:

My Dying Bride
Pyogenesis
Septic Flesh(?)
От банд которых не слышал буду только в восторге.

Запусти сам поиск на метал-архивах по нужному тебе стилю. Как мне кажется, почти весь дум-дэт нужного тебе периода соответствует твоим запросам, ну, может за парой-тройкой исключений.
Потому-что не охота писать огромные списки (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye.gif)
