Тогда в эпоху развития направления death metal, когда всё, если можно так сказать, только начиналось и подавляющее большинство дэт-альбомов, с трудом поддавались восприятию из-за перегруженного/песочащего/жужжащего(нужное подчеркнуть) звука, Мерфи с Шульдинером на SH, накрутили тот звонкий с сильной просадкой средних и обилием высоких частот скребущий рёв гитар, ставший в последствии основой "пластмассы".

Назвать результат перфекционистской работы Чака - "пластмассовым звуком"... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/normal_Homerdisgust3.png)
По сути музыка, записанная на альбоме, требовала именно такой подачи. Какой был смысл прятать ее за перегруженным и заниженным звуком?

"Spiritual Healing" - ещё один шаг вперед в развитии группы и зарождающего тогда отдельного нового стиля - это был ещё ни прог-дэт, но уже и ни дремучий прямолинейный oldschool.

Давайте назовем это прото-прог-дэт?
Чак запиндюрил на орбиту альбом, в котором были сформированы принципы, развитые в следующих альбомах: частые смены ритмов, разные размеры одновременно играемых инструментальных партий, сложные, но красивые соло (Within the Mind, Spiritual Healing). Все это цементировалось на старой основе соответствующим звуком и гроулом. Достаточно было послушать начинающие альбом Living Monstrosity и Altering the Future, чтобы понять, что новый альбом - новый подход, новый стиль, новый звук.

Дак конечно самый Death! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/1488.gif) Только у самых прозорливых и ушастых ворохнулось в груди: "А чего это все так записано? Чего это звук такой странный? Зачем эти сбивки? Есть же каннибал корпус и дисайд? вот они играют ровно. зачем усложнять?"

Отличнейший альбом. Да, это не зверство первых двух полноформатов, но это в третьем воплощении было бы уже лишним. Благо СБГ и Л оставили свой след в истории дм навсегда. Правильно тут высказали - данный альбом и есть олдскул, но поданный уже по новому. Не прогрессивно, но интересно, с проработкой и прогрессом в композиторской/мелодической части. Это дэт метал, который интересно слушать и уже познавшему гниль и вонь подвалов смерти (то бишь андерграундный олдскул) и тем, кто хочет понять, что же за зверь такой этот жанр смерть метала. Этот релиз может быть назван визитной карточкой дэта. Выделять какие то песни или говорить об особенностях нет особого резона - песни здесь все сильные, как на подбор, атмосфера монолитная, звук чистый, соло - отпадные, вокал внушает, обложка замечательна. Ни придраться, ни прибавить, ни убавить.

Альбом шедеврален! Он отлично слушается через 27 лет после выхода. И еще через 27 лет будет слушаться не хуже. Одноименная песня выделяется своей гениальностью и продуманостью даже на фоне остальных великолепных вещей. 10/10 и не меньше!

Вот решил освежить диско маэстро, и в несчётный раз прослушал аццке любимый мною Spiritual Healing
Нетленный шедевр, классика Death Metal во всей своей красе.
На этом альбоме нет ни одной слабой или скучной вещий, здесь есть лучший саунд, лучший вокал Чаке, интересные гитарные дуэли Чарльза Майкла Шульдинера и Джеймса Франклина Мёрфи, предельно сбалансированный альбом - сочетание техники, мощщи и доли мелодичности.

Что говорить, было время, были люди...

Самым главным минусом альбома я бы назвал унылую ритм-секцию (особенно огорчает Билл Эндрюс своим однообразным "умпа-умпа"). В остальном релиз просто эталонный. С ним мог бы потягаться разве что Human.

Да, это был настоящий дэс-метал в своем лучшем проявлении. Для многих именно последующие альбомы стали эталоном и квлт, но даже если сам Чак признал 91 год лучшим, это о чем-то да говорит ))

Итак, альбому Spiritual Healing исполнилось 30 лет.

Уже столько раз группе и ее релизам перемывали кости, что сложно в еще более превосходной или еще более дотошной форме выразить свой восторг или громкое негодование. Явление Death ознаменовалось в этом мире семью выразительными непохожими друг на друга альбомами, каждый из которых является завершенным и самостоятельным произведением. Разумеется, лично со мной этот альбом не так долго, впервые в силу возраста я его услышал в начале двухтысячных и спустя эти годы... как-то ощущения от альбома дозрели. Выдержанная, продуманная, профессиональная пластинка с должным уровнем как интеллектуальной нагрузки, так и со стержнем настоящего metal, при прослушивании которого так и хочется мотнуть головой в такт. Материал жесткий и достаточно тяжеловесный, наверное, справедливо было бы навесить на альбом ярлык самого тяжелого - реально ведь наяривают мощно и с душой.

Здесь много находок в каких-то удивительно правильных пропорциях, пока растаскивали на цитаты Spiritual Healing и Human, там и Individual Thought Patterns подошел хитровыдуманный. Пока перли с него - вообще нарисовался Symbolic. Группа во многом шла на полшага-шаг впереди ровесников и отнюдь не вина Шульдинера, что идеи его пытливого и авторитарного ума получили такой грандиозный отклик, как в плане кассового благополучия группы, так и в плане многочисленных подражателей и заимствователей. Мужик писал свою музыку, искал талантливых людей в свою банду для записи пластинок, гонял в туры. Они были нормальной классной бандой, скорее вопреки ставшей культовой и в тоже самое время заслуженно, т.к. вынырнуть из привычного болота и дать своей аудитории на музыку свежий взгляд , который найдет еще больший отклик, могли лишь единицы групп. Одна из них - Death.

Только за сегодня кругляш прослушан трижды подряд. Офигительно и все тут.
