Начинается альбом очень забористо и волшебно, первые три песни пролетатают на ура, обозначая великолепное смешение различных школ death metal. Третья Better Grieved Than Fooled очень сильна! Дальше чуть хуже.. Эта работа из тех, в которые втыкаешь со временем, не сразу... По крайней мере так было со мной - за год прослушивания моя оценка поднялась от 7/10 до 9/10.

А я сразу влепил им высший балл за технику, музыкальную идею и то, насколько сменилась стилистика игры по сравнению с ну просто офигенно жёсткими предыдущими альбомами. The Conductor's Departure - определённо один из лучших выпусков-2006.

После той брутальщины, которую Anata рубили по 2004й год включительно услышать такой продуманный и осторожный труд было самым настоящим шоком. Хотя к моменту записи The Conductors Departure все музыканты как один носили короткие стрижки, будем считать, что это всё те же хаератые металлюги, коих... ну в общем до xpeнa. Так вот: слушая этот альбом начинаешь думать, что Anata - это и вовсе солидные дядьки, выряженные в формальные пиджаки со строгими галстуками - настолько деликатным получился материал.

В отличие от Augury - Concealed, заводная стартовая композиция не бросила тень на все остальные - говоря "Downward Spiral Into Madness" шведы не врали, это действительно спираль и она взаправду ведёт вниз, к более основательным и свободным опусам. Если Better Grieved Than Fooled и The Great Juggler могут удивить своим легкомыслием, то ближе к середине-концу альбома музыка становится плотнее. В то же время из-за атональных риффов чистота восприятия приказывает долго жить и окинуть общим взором все навороты вряд ли получится - то и дело цепляешься слухом то за ударные, то за жужжание примочек.

По прошествии двух лет The Conductors Departure нисколько не надоел, выглядит всё так же оригинально и крепко держится за звание одного из лучших выпусков-2006.
