Скажу сразу, не любитель блэк-метала, к чернухе, особенно - однообразной и молотящей, отношусь не особо, с некоторым предубеждением, по той простой причине, что не отличаю одну размалеванную банду от другой. Ни по корпспейнту, ни по звуку.
Но вот такую годноту, как Falkenbach, слушать можется и хочется. Ясное дело, что это не просто там блэк, а даже викинг и все такое прочее. Однако, когда вокалист орет дико и неразборчиво, а барабанщик захлебывается в слюне от неистовства (начало Laeknishendr), все равно не тот коленкор (хотя, понимаю, что викинги не только плавали по морям, спали, бухали, но еще и сражались, а уж в бою никто не кричит как родившийся цыпленок). Но, есть два замечательных момента. Первое - звук гитары, высокий, звенящий, и в тоже время плывущий над прочими музыкальными партиями, чем-то напоминающий всякие рокабилли-группы из американских шестидесятых (их еще иногда в фильмах Тарантино можно услышать), в Galdralag как раз такая вот красота. Ну и пресловутый фолк-элемент со всякими сопелками-дуделками, струнными и застольными распевами, типа как в первой части Heathenpride (или вон - вторая часть Laeknishendr), коротенькой Ultima Thule. Хотя в тех же Heathenpride, Asum Ok Alfum Naer...и более тяжелая часть тоже по своему интересна, этим монотонным шаманским гитарным чесом. В общем, если оценивать по процентному содержанию годноты, то - огого! Хотя на новшество такого мнения не претендую...

Альбом крутанский, способствует погружению в дивную эпоху викингов. Тому же Falkenbach в отличие от массы хайповых банд веришь. Если Amon Amarth это герои Marvel, то Фалькенбах - это документальная ретроспектива с художественным оформлением для знатока и эстета.
