30 января на Nuclear War Now! Productions подоспела компиляция одной из старейших культовых греческих Black Metal формаций - Varathron. Компиляция называется "Genesis of the Unaltered Evil" и включает в себя демки 1989 и 1991 годов, EP "One Step Beyond Dreams" 1991 года, треки с сплита с Necromantia 1992-го года, а так же три студийных бонус трека, записанных в первые годы существования банды. J. Campbell дал вполне обширное описание данной сборке:
Компиляция издаётся на двух винилах, но так же есть дай-хард версия с тремя пластинками на борту, на третьей содержится демо "Live at the Swamp" 2004 года выпуска, содержащее записи с живых выступлений и репетиций 1991 года. Оба вида издания комплектуются довольно большой нашивкой и 48-ми страничным буклетом.

NOKTURNAL HELLSTORM, the black metal project led by veteran bassist Danny Lilker (BRUTAL TRUTH, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, ANTHRAX), has released its debut album via United Underground (a division of Sevared Records). Produced and engineered by Lilker and mastered by Doug White at Watchmen Studios, the self-titled CD features 41 minutes of "ripping Scandinavian-inspired black metal," according to a press release.

When asked how NOKTURNAL HELLSTORM came together, Lilker told Decibel magazine, "In a way, it's similar to how BRUTAL TRUTH began way back in '90, with me working in my home studio. I wrote the music, programmed the drums and played all the instruments (no vocals, though). I asked Ron from CRUCIFIST to write and record vocals for this project, but before he got around to it, the band came to life when I realized that some of my friends from the Rochester melodic black/death band SARCOUS would be able to play this material. So, we took the three songs I had written — one of which is 'Naan Kadavul' — wrote another song together, and recorded what we had. That's the essence of how the band started, and as far as the impetus; well some may remember a black metal band I played in called HEMLOCK from New York City in the mid-to-late '90s. We broke up in 2001 and I relocated to Rochester a year after that. Although CRUCIFIST embodies elements of black metal, I wanted to play pure black metal again. I was quite inspired by the early '90s Scandinavian black metal scene, which re-lit the fire that had gone out when the original black metal bands from the '80s lost their direction or broke up. While a lot of people were simply drawn to the more sensational aspects of this scene and lost interest when all that died down, I still was drawn to the music, so NOKTURNAL HELLSTORM is, for me anyway, an homage to that era. We are not reinventing the wheel here."

Swedish black metal band Marduk is currently in the studio finalizing the recording of their 12th studio album. The title has been set for “SERPENT SERMON”!
The album is set for a late spring release. Tracklisting and more info will be unveiled shortly.
A listeing session will be held for special invited journalists and media in Stockholm on the 11th of February

MASTERS HAMMER - 2012 - VRACEJTE KONVE NA MISTO

For some incidental reasons in autumn 2011 I couldn't fly again to our favourite sunny beach in southern India, I'm stuck here in Bohemian frozen wilderness for the whole winter. I enjoyed the fading sun, admired hoarfrost on my windows and crooky branches of elderly oaks covered by new snow. Impressive grey silence and loneliness. Brave rednecks in local pub are at present the only specimen of civilization. My time is split between book illustration job and musicwriting. When the flaming throat of the iron stove in my studio is shining and roe deers are passing outside, I'm composing songs inspired by winter landscape at night and by graveyard typography. When walking on cemeteries, I've noticed several times a strange inscription which I found appropriate as title for this album: "Vracejte konve na místo" (Put Watering Cans Back in Place).

Joe Harper: jaw harp and throat singing in "Šumava", "Podejte mi samopal" and "Pantheismus dobra", (his samples used in other songs as well).
Jan Kapák: drums**

Necrocock***: vocals and sick harmonies in "Lovecraft" and "Flammarion", dramaturgic adviser.
The bulldog (not present): Eda, starring in "Dreaming Bulldog" intermezzo (CD version only).

Composed, recorded and mixed in Jihosound studio. Drums were recorded at Hellsound Studio in December 13. – 15. 2011. Mastered by Blackosh in January 2012.

OUT NOW ON HHR: This is NOT the new PROFANATICA album, but rather an intriguing 39-minute DOUBLE 12" mLP recorded in two distinct studio sessions. Both records feature a laser etching around the outer rim on all 4 sides and come in silkscreened picture disc sleeves housed in a matte finish jacket with UV spot gloss.

PART #1 features 5 new songs plus 2 old classics written and recorded by Ledney with a session member. The performance on this work is much like their primitive NECROVORE-ous atrocities committed in the early '90s and allows for safe assumption of what could have been heard on their long-lost album, "The Raping of the Virgin Mary."

Meanwhile, PART #2 features the same titles but written and recorded by Gelso alongside the same drums & vocals performed on record #1. The execution of this session continues in the more musical direction showcased on their first 2 albums and incorporates soundscapes sonically compiled by the late Aragon Amori. The end result is nothing short of devastating, and the vast contrast between these two sessions takes on the form of an album in itself that is sure to appeal to both old & new devotees of the black cult...HERE IS WISDOM!
