Hello Everybody!

In words of a member of an excellent Black Metal band with respect to his position about Pagan/Black genre, a time ago I listened to the following thing:
"...How can there be such thing as Pagan Black Metal? There's nothing pagan about Black Metal, heretic maybe, but not pagan. Either it's Pagan Metal or Black Metal you can't mix these two. Satan is not pagan, Wotan and Sventevith are not satanic..."

By any way I understand it by the lyrics and ideology of his band, but I'll not deny that genre in discussion personally I like it. Most of us have observed, we can't listen some pagan in Black Metal (I talking about the instrumentation sounds), but we know the content of its lyricals it refers pagan subjects, to mention any: Hegemoon.

I would like to know what you think about Pagan/Black Metal mixture.
For your commentaries Thanks in advance....

ENGLISH I NOT

"Satan is not pagan, Wotan and Sventevith are not satanic"

I would like to know what you think about Pagan/Black Metal mixture.
I consider it to be quite a good thing in general. When mixed properly, this 2 metal genres can create a really deep atmosphere. British bands like Fen or Wodensthrone for example mix pagan (or heathen) ideas with atmospheric black metal. I recall that Wyrd (Fin) is also a nice band.

And about this one:

It's normal for the music genres to expand themselves by including some other elements. That's the progress and it is unstoppable. But some people seem to be stuck in '60s/'70s/'90s etc. I think that it's unwise not to accept the modern influences on the culture generally and the music as its part.

From my viewpoint it is good to mix such a styles in musical way, but not in ideological. Heathen Metal band can sound as Black Metal, but it would be NEVER BM without satanic ideology (german Orlog or Odal are good examples). Also, the most of Heathen/Viking bands developed their style from Black Metal.

So, i support both Pagan and Black Metal and it's musical mix, but not ideoloical.

There should be no such mix, and since black metal is also in large, an ideological musical phenomenon, without nihilism itl turns into something like we see today: depressive pagan crap. I agree, pagan metal has every right for existence, the only thing that concerns me, is why does pretending to worship the native gods seems to be so popular among so-called "black metallers"? It stinks of screaming: "look, i'm real, i'm here, i don't kill cats for Satan anymore, its all in the past! I got smarter, read a book and now I worship the REAL gods, gods of my ancestors!". Yes, they pretend to be pagans, in reality they are your average bullshiters. I don't think black metal has anything to do with satanism either, bm is all about SINCERE belief that world and and humans are pathetic. Some musicians take it farther and read about occultism, maybe practice a little here and there. But unless bm band is devoted, and actually believes in what it preaches, it ain't black metal.

The combination of pagan and black metal themes and elements can vary greatly between different bands and music pieces. Some people believe that the two genres are incompatible due to their differing ideologies and beliefs, while others see it as a way to merge different cultural and musical elements to create something new and unique. Ultimately, the perception of pagan/black metal as a genre is subjective and depends on individual interpretation.
