To be honest, I really never liked Borknagar except their acoustic verse "Origin". And since that point I wish to hear more acoustic themes than metal. I'll write a short review after listening. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fear.gif)

Отличнейший альбом! Песенка My Domain почему-то очень напомнила старый добрый Arcturus, или новый добрый даже больше (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile1.gif)
В общем, послушал альбом 7 раз и хочу еще! Отличная работа!

upd: Оно и понятно, почему напомнило Arcturus. Потому что guest vocals ICS Vortex

Ой-ёй...

Сказал бы, что понравилось, но почему-то автоматически включается защита от black metal. Хотя терпимо. Это наверное заслуга хорошего звука. Сцена хорошо организована: всё слышно, ничего нигде не пропадает. От фирменного стиля Vintersorg'a тут и остался только что вокал, а так — невинтерзорговская музыка. Хотя все эти флейты уместные. Наверное больше ничего не скажу, потому что в блэке не шарю и не любою его, что правда, после очень красивого акустического альбома Origin, Universal понравился больше всех остальных чисто металлических выпусков Borknagar.

Главное пока что разочарование года, даже главнее, чем слабый новый Evig Natt, потому как Borknagar слушаю намного дольше и это одна из любимых групп. Альбом сам по себе неплох, скелеты песен прочные, но много скучных (и лишних) тем.

Borknagar даже только по музыке никогда не был Black'ом. Элементы его, особенно на ранних, присутствуют - но их роль не решающая. И Винтерсорг тут не основной композитор, так что его стиля тут не особо много. Но узнаваемые черты есть. А вообще отличная вещь.

Universal - не мегашедевр десятилетия, но все равно очень добротная работа, которая войдет в мою 20-ку лучших метал альбомов года.
