Не знаю, кто там усмотрел в Nevermore "пауэр" (наверное, этот человек был в больших и толстых очках) - лично я никогда не видел и не слышал, чтобы Nevermore играли что-либо иное, чем прогрессив-трэш, причём, на протяжении ВСЕЙ своей дискографии. Ипишка 'In Memory' раннего периода творчества сиэттлцев - всё тот же прогрессив-трэш. Довольно необычная, на мой взгляд, запись группы, совершенно не похожая звучанием ни на первый альбом 'Nevermore' (1995), ни на последующий после ипишки 'The Politics of Ecstasy' (1996). Густой и вязковатый звук - он не лучше и не хуже других записей команды, он просто другой. Но независимо от звука и чего бы то ни было ещё 'In Memory' можно смело ставить в ряд самых талантливых и сильных работ группы. Nevermore, впрочем, по-другому и не могут - у них либо "просто" великолепные диски, либо шедевры. (Чего-то иного не встречал. Слушал всё.) О вокале Уоррела Дэйна всегда говорилось и будет говориться много, но я никак не могу о нём умолчать и здесь - такие номера, как 'Matricide' и 'In Memory', под воздействием волшебного вокала Уоррела расцвечиваются необыкновенными красками и оказывают ярчайшее впечатление на слушателя. Имеющий уши да слышит - вот он перед вами, один из самых гениальных вокалов металла!
Если рассматривать 'In Memory' как единое целое с бонус-частью, то, с одной стороны, вряд ли стоит смешивать столь разнородный по звуку и по концепции материал. С другой стороны, бонус-часть включает в себя чертовски сильные вещи - одну из самых сильных композиций раннего периода творчества группы 'Passenger' (супер-вещь, и соло такое же!), не менее эффектную 'This Sacrament' и крышесрывающий инструментал '42147'. На мой взгляд, что так, что эдак - всё равно шедевр. 9.5/10 |

ну, если кратенько, и не вдаваясь в подробности (а то на работу через 6 часов вставать), то для чистого трэша они недостаточно "моторны", и присутствуют в музыке некая помпезность и лёгковесная мелодика, например.

Блин, самое начало Matricide, такие же точно риффы у какой то очень знаменитой death metal группы есть, но не могу понять у какой. Там еще между этими риффами вокалист крякает. Мучает это меня, что не могу вспомнить / понять.
