The title says it all, really: 16 discordant tracks that push the dense format of 2008’s In Narcosis to its logical extreme while simultaneously hewing to the classical loud-and-unrelenting approach to grind championed by Maruta’s spiritual forefathers. Hints of Napalm Death and Nasum abound, as any grindcore band worth its salt in 2011 should aspire to, but the sound of Forward Into Regression most closely parallels Maruta’s former labelmates Phobia: grind-by-way-of-hardcore punk, a convenient delivery method for fusing two historically angry genres and making ‘em even more unpleasant. This mix is not intended to be inviting by design; Mitchell Luna’s alternating grunts and screams – the voice of 1000 nightmares – are practically a warning to stand back and avoid collateral damage.

I have got some reviews I need to get done but when I saw this in the review pool I had to jump on it. Maruta is a heavy as balls Grindcore outfit from Miami Florida. These guys have been making a big name for themselves in the Florida Grind scene and the worldwide scene for the past few years with their first release "In Narcosis" for Willowtip and appearances at MDF. So in short if you are into Grind or things of that nature and you havent heard of them, then I doubt you are into Grind or things of that nature. Now with that out of the way, on to the review.

2008's In Narcosis was a filthy slab of dissonant grind that I really enjoyed. 2011's Forward Into Regression takes what we heard on In Narcosis and gives it a healthy does of steroids. It might be the addition of a bass player that did it but everything hear is faster, more deranged and beefier. Eduardo Borja's riffs are blistering, if I'm not mistaken his guitar is tuned to F and that makes for a distinct piercing sound. Mitchell Luna's vocals are on point for every Grinding Power Violence moment of this record. His lows rival anyone in Death Metal and his shrieks are blood curdling. The drumming is a straight onslaught Danny Morris blasts his way through his kit in a way that would make Danny Walker smile.

All in all this record kills. The best slap of Technical Grind that I've heard in a long time. If you enjoy Grind, Death Metal, Power Violence etc GET THIS. If you have liked anything that Willowtip has released GET THIS. Just GET THIS.

Если серьезно, то различия довольно существенные, но на этом альбоме действительно прослеживается смешение Technical Grind/Death Metal. Кумирами у парней явно были Assuck, которые и положили начало такой манере игры.
Разницу тут объяснять дело неблагодарное, набежит куча народу со своими мнениями, советами и всю тему за....т (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile1.gif)
Лучше прослушай сначала Suffocation, допустим Breeding The Spawn, а потом резко включи Ion Dissonance - разницу почувствуешь сразу.

тоже понравился альбом,стиль соответствует указанному в релизе,особо grind не слушаю,но здесь больший упор делается на brutal death,поэтому наверное и понравилось
p.s.просмотрел стиль в шапке,поменял бы с death metal на brutal death metal

Мне просто адепты жанра в свое время объясняли, что грайнд - это примитивная долбежка, а вот когда долбежка техничная - это брутал-дэс. Не?

Не. Корни грайнда уходят в британский хардкор старой школы, а Brutal Death выходец из Death / Thrash метала. Сейчас настолько все перемешано, что есть метализированный grind, в основе которого лежат Death или Brutal Death или Gore, есть классический Grind в духе ND, есть punk-ориентированный grind который замешан на punk, crust и hc. Как и у каждого силя, у грайнда, так у каждого его подвида есть свои ходы и приемы, и это не обязательно молотилово. Тут можно диссертацию написАть по каждому из ответвлений.
Разобраться лучше всего прослушав классические альбомы для каждого вида/подвида и сравнить. Потом увидишь, что нектороые тенденции прослеживаются и на др. альбомах...
Думаю, что так можно научиться шарить в стилях.

Спасибо. Конечно, шарить в этих стилях - не самоцель, ибо такую музыку я уже очень давно не слушаю. Просто чуть ли не каждый день узнаю о новом подвиде таких стилей, поэтому так.. для общего развития и поинтересовался =)

кстати на ясмп видел етот альбом, и там он обозначался как просто гринд . . а счас вот на ма почитал отзывы и прям как то загорелся . . да и стиль указан - один из моих любимых.
