Genre(s): Thrash Metal Lyrical Theme(s): Satanism (early), Anti-Religion, Violence, Warfare Origin: United States of America (Huntington Park, Los Angeles County, California) Formed In: 1982 Status: Active Current Line-Up: Tom Araya - Vocals, Bass (1982-) (Tradewinds, Quits) Kerry King - Guitar (1982-) (Quits, Megadeth) Gary Holt - Guitar (2013-) (Exodus, Spastik Children, Wardance) Paul Bostaph - Drums (1992-1996, 1997-2001, 2013-) (Testament, Forbidden (USA), Exodus, Systematic) Former/Past Member(s): Jeff Hanneman - Guitar (1982-2013) (ex-Pap Smear) R.I.P. Additional Notes Slayer was formed in 1982, by Los Angeles schoolmates and guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King. Tom Araya soon joined on bass and vocals, and drummer Dave Lombardo joined last later in 1982. They played in a style reminiscent of early Exodus, influenced heavily by Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, before their attendance at a mid-1982 Metallica concert convinced them to play faster and heavier. "Black Magic" was written in February 1983 and marked Slayer's definite venture into thrash metal. They secured a spot on the compilation appeareance "Metal Massacre III" in 1983, contributing the speed metal song "Aggressive Perfector". They also recorded two demos in 1983, and became a popular live act in the Los Angeles area. (In 1983, Bob Gourley filled in for Dave for one gig. He later appeared in Dark Angel (USA).) Their debut LP, Show no Mercy, was recorded in November, 1983. A live EP was recorded in the studio in front of 50 of their closest friends in January, 1984, and after that "Show No Mercy" was released. The "Haunting the Chapel" and "Live Undead" EPs followed. After 1985's "Hell Awaits", Slayer were signed to Rick Rubin's Def Jam record label, better known for acts like Run DMC. This led to three studio albums, including the brutal "Reign in Blood", as well as a 1991 live double CD, "Decade of Aggression". Dave Lombardo left the band in 1987 for several weeks, and was replaced for a few live gigs by Tony Scaglione (Whiplash (USA)), and then again left in 1992. The band disappeared for a while, and was presumed killed in a bizarre gardening accident. Finally, in 1994, Paul Bostaph from Forbidden was brought in, and three more albums were recorded. Then, in 2001, Bostaph left to join Systematic, and Lombardo, who had been in Grip Inc. and Fantômas rejoined the band. Interesting facts: It's official that Slayer is the most covered metal band in the world aside from Metallica. Tom Araya was born in Valparaíso, Chile. He has provided guest vocals to recordings by other artists, including "Iron Gland" from Alice in Chains' album Dirt, and "Terrorist" from Soulfly's album Primitive. Kerry King recorded a guitar solo for "No Sleep Til' Brooklyn" by the popular hip-hop/rock group Beastie Boys. Tom Araya's brother John (Bloodcum (USA)) worked as an sound engineer for Slayer in their early days. Gene Hoglan, the legendary drummer who has played in bands such as Dark Angel (USA), Strapping Young Lad, and Death, used to be a Slayer lights man and roadie on the Show No Mercy tour, and was asked to be Dave Lombardo's drum tech on the Haunting North America tour ('84), but knocked it back to pursue his own music career. He even did backup vocals on the album Show No Mercy (the song Evil Has No Boundaries). The band was never known as Dragonslayer. This has been refuted in countless interviews. And Slayer is not an acronym for anything. DO NOT add false information! Born Dates: Tom Araya (06 June 1961 Valparaiso, Chile) Jeff Hannemann (31 January 1964 Oakland, CA) Kerry King (03 June 1964 Los Angeles, CA) Dave Lombardo (16 February 1965 Havana, Cuba) Paul Bostaph (26 March 1964 Newark, CA) (IMG:http://metalarea.org/images/audiocovers/2012_Jun/acov_uid102610_de941eb1b53ed0f4f895e659700ec94a.jpg) Discography: Slayer - Rehearsal Demo [demo] - 1983 Slayer - Second Demo [demo] - 1983 Slayer - Show No Mercy [full-length] - 1983 Slayer - Nocturnal Spectre [rehearsal] - 1983 Slayer - Haunting The Chapel [ep] - 1984 Slayer - Hell Awaits Demo [demo] - 1984 Slayer - Live Undead [live] - 1984 Slayer - Jeff Hanneman Home Recording [demo] - 1985 Slayer - Hell Awaits [full-length] - 1985 Slayer - Postmortem [single] - 1986 Slayer - Raining Blood [single] - 1986 Slayer - Def Jam Demo [demo] - 1986 Slayer - Escape From The Estudios [demo] - 1986 Slayer - Reign In Blood Demos [demo] - 1986 Slayer - Reign In Blood [full-length] - 1986 Slayer - Criminally Insane [single] - 1987 Slayer - Mandatory Suicide [single] - 1988 Slayer - Reign In Blood [single] - 1988 Slayer - South Of Heaven [single] - 1988 Slayer - South Of Heaven [full-length] - 1988 Slayer - Dead Skin Mask [single] - 1990 Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss [single] - 1990 Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss [full-length] - 1990 Slayer - Decade Of Aggression [live] - 1991 Slayer - Dittohead [single] - 1994 Slayer - Divine Intervention [full-length] - 1994 Slayer - Live Intrusion [ep] - 1995 Slayer - Serenity In Murder [single] - 1995 Slayer - Serenity In Murder [ep] - 1995 Slayer & T.S.O.L. - T.S.O.L./Slayer [split] - 1996 Slayer - I Hate You [single] - 1996 Slayer - Undisputed Attitude [full-length] - 1996 Slayer & Clutch & System Of A Down - Diabolus In Musica Tour Sampler [split] - 1998 Slayer - Ubernoise: The Interview [best of/compilation] - 1998 Slayer - Diabolus In Musica [full-length] - 1998 Slayer - Stain Of Mind [single] - 1998 Slayer - Bloodline [single] - 2001 Slayer - God Hates Us All [single] - 2001 Slayer - God Send Death [single] - 2001 Slayer - God Hates Us All [full-length] - 2001 Slayer - Shit You've Never Heard [compilation] - 2003 Slayer - Soundtrack To The Apocalypse [boxed set] - 2003 Slayer - War At The Warfield [dvd] - 2003 Slayer - Reign In Blood Live: Still Reigning [dvd] - 2004 Slayer - Eternal Pyre [ep] - 2006 Slayer - Cult [single] - 2006 Slayer - Christ Illusion [full-length] - 2006 Slayer - Eyes Of The Insane [single] - 2006 Slayer - Psychopathy Red [single] - 2009 Slayer - Hate Worldwide [single] - 2009 Slayer - World Painted Blood [single] - 2009 Slayer - World Painted Blood [full-length] - 2009 Slayer - Fuknslayerdammit [single] - 2010 Slayer - World Painted Blood & Atrocity Vendor [single] - 2010 Slayer - When The Stillness Comes/Black Magic [single] - 2015 Slayer - Repentless [single] - 2015 Slayer - Repentless [full-length] - 2015 ***** Official Site: Slayer Homepage Slayer @ Myspace This post has been edited by Абигор: Sep 5 2015, 14:03:18 |

Slayer-Reign This Night (Live 1984) (2022) 320Kbps) venue, city, country ??? there are a ton of Slayer 1984 bootlegs we already have, so we don't want the exact same one, but under a different name. EDIT: found some info MYSELF, https://musicbrainz.org/release/7932184f-20...ef-0b5218f3a9c7 supposedly recorded in Berkeley, which means there are at least 5 different concerts to compare it to.... https://www.metallipromo.com/slay.html Probably is the Dec 31 show |
