Additional Notes

The infamous El Kaso Urkijo were the first Spanish band to release a Grindcore LP, although there is certain controversy with the bands Rottest Slag and Seqzión Demenziados, also grindcore pioneers in Spain.

The name of the band comes from the "Urquijo case", where the Spanish marquis and marquess of Urquijo were killed on August 1, 1980. The principal suspect was Rafi Escobedo, to whom El Kaso Urkijo dedicated the title of their second demo.

The first vocalist from the band, Robert became an important musician at Barcelona' scene, in hardcore bands like 24 Ideas, Carry Out, Discrust/Uprising, Unabomber or Sowplot. Lately he has been in Bukkake (the first incarnation of the sludge band Lords of Bukkake) and in Demonic War.

EKU band-members were notorious for maintaining dozens of side projects, often related to noise, industrial, punk or metal. Many of them recorded low budget demos, or appeared on compilation tapes.

Jordi Garcia (Popeye War Heads) was the owner of the tape label Factory Of Noise.

Juan Obeja was the owner of the tape label B-Gore.

El Kaso Urkijo split up in 1997.

At the end of 2008, Popeye War Heads reappeared and announced his intention of releasing a remastered EKU compilation. At the same time former guitarist Byron developed a webpage expressing his intention of release a new EKU album, tentatively entitled "La Cataluña Rancia", in which he defined a "Thrash Progressive Epic Metal Zombie" vein. After some controversies, in February 2009, both Popeye and Byron had conversations about the resurrection of the band and they agreed of joining forces.

New bandmembers Israeleitor (Vonit To Death, Anal Pus) and Aliento Putrefacto (Conkheror, Malva, Carnaca) joined the band, and in summer 2009 they recorded the EKUs new album "La Bañera Fue Su Nicho". They also added the second guitarist Carlos "Carbonizado" (Self Eaten). Soon afterwards, Byron left the band, being replaced by Hueso.
