Bio:
Pelican is a four-piece instrumental band from Chicago, Illinois who have since relocated to Los Angeles. The band is known for its dense combinations of different melodies and extended track lengths. Their distinctive sound draws from stoner rock, doom metal as well as post-rock and many other influences. Larry Herweg, Trevor de Brauw, and Laurent Schroeder-Lebec also make up three-quarters of the band Tusk.
Previously signed to Hydra Head Records (which is owned and operated by Aaron Turner of Isis), Pelican is now part of the Southern Lord Records roster. The label has also announced that Pelican will embark on a tour with new labelmates Wolves in the Throne Room and that their first release for their new label is an EP entitled "Ephemeral", which was released June 6, 2009. Trevor de Brauw has stated that the new material will be darker, heavier and more "riff oriented", than on more recent recordings, and Southern Lord has also stated that an undisclosed guest guitarist who "is very influential to the band" will be making an appearance on the new recording as well. Pictures of the recent studio sessions on the Pelican website show the band playing with Earth guitarist Dylan Carlson.

Ну на самом деле тенденция изменения звучания как раз на последнем альбоме и просматривалась, так что всё закономерно имхо) (впрочем, надыть же ещё послушать, а потом уж рассуждать)
В любом случае, "Thanks, man!"
Хотя опять же, хочется оффрелиза дождаться, но силы воли явно не хватит)

ну ты не совсем меня так понял )
у тебя выходит, что инкорпорирование элементов поцрока = деградация, если ты от моих слов отталкиваешься
а я так не считаю. альбом сам по себе был хероватым. души не было. однообразно и скучно. поцрока была изрядно, конечно. но тут грань на самом деле не очень-то четкая с поц-металом (нонсладжевым), если говорить о такого рода поц-роке.

я не думаю, что этот альбом лучше. вероятно, что хуже. во всяком случае такие отзывы уже пошли.
впрочем, попробуемс лично

Ненене, я просто криво выразился) То что в музыке стали проскальзывать пост-роковые мотивы совсем не влияет на то что "альбом был никакущий")) Мне так, например, он, пожалуй, даже нравился местами. Я хотел сказать, что раз тенденции к поцроку были, то в принципе закономерно, что на этой работе поц-рока ещё больше) (логика конечно спорная, но по сути, только так оно и ожидалось лично мной))
Впрочем, опять, рассуждения на пустом месте)
Ты прав, первым делом нужно послушать "лично"))

Похоже на City of Echoes, но более плотно и сладжево, хотя пост-рок никуда не делся. Как мне показалось, музыки все больше не достает либо вокала, либо электроники, либо хоть педалек с делэем в некоторых местах... Тем не менее, альбом показался лучше предыдущего.

Очень понравился, в том числе и в сравнении с более ранними. Несколько "давящая" атмосфера первых сменилась на что-то более легкое, и позитивно-закрытое, что ли.. или самодостаточное (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hmm.gif) Одноименный трек - совсем радует.
