Интернационально-американский квинтет довольно быстро дорос до того, чтобы выродить 23-хминутную сюиту A Change Of Seasons со множеством смен настроений, инструментовок, вокальных партий и глубоким философским текстом. Однозначно входит в тройку лучших произведений DT. В добивку на пластинку были сложены несколько каверверсий.
В элтонджонистых Funeral For A Friend и Love Lies Bleeding были бережно оставлены экспрессия и фортепианный звук, к которым добавилась тяжесть.
Perfect Strangers, вероятно, является одной из любимых песен DT в исполнении Deep Purple, поскольку неоднократно исполнялась и на концертах. Добавить к этому и нечего, ибо исполнена песня крайне близко к оригиналу. Убрать ЛаБри, поставить Гиллана - будут те же яйца, только в профиль.
Попурри из зеппелиновских песен, видимо, формировалось по принципу «самые прогрессвно-роковые песни LZ». Получились более тяжелые и быстрые версии этих песен, которым хватает мастерства, но ЛаБри на роль Планта не тянет. Лучше всех, по моему скромному мнению, получилась The Song Remains The Same.
Ну а оставшееся The Big Medley, собранное из кусочков песен разных хард- и прогрессив-роковых групп – демонстрация мастеровитости и музыкальных пристрастий DT.

deathrush666, я все сказал правильно: DT больше всего любят песню Perfect stranger из всех, исполняемых Deep Purple. Вопрос конечно открытый. Ибо есть еще и альбом Made in JapanЮ переигранный DT вживую. А судя по вкладку в этот альбом (в смысле - альбом Dream Theater "Made In Japan", выпущенный в 2007 году), DT еще хотели записать "Machine Head".
И касаемого моего взгляда на лучшие песни DT, про которые спрашивал Pantheon, то это A Change Of Seasons, Metropolis-Part I- The Miracle And The Sleeper и The Ytse Jam

nbhfy, я услышал DT еще в 90-м. просто есть сейчас с собой все дско, переслушиваю и делюсь впечатленями. и по сей день считаю, что лучшие свои песни DT записали в начале карьеры.
