Black Altar was always a bit problematic to rate. Not only here... Shadow tries to play in the vein of Norway (both old and bands like Urgehal), Sweden (e.g. Marduk, Ondskapt) and Orthodox/Occult BM. Raw vocals, choirs, melodies, blast beats, some Death Metal and Industrial sound and dark ambient outros. Simply everything. Good, but lacks it's own soul... Kirkebrann is just a Norwegian band and that's all.
