Супервещь и уже классика. По-моему, самая "навороченная" работа Suffocation, причём обилие технических изысков идёт точно "в кассу". При этом неторопливым я бы альбом не назвал - высоких скоростей тоже хватает. В общем, всё правильно, всё на своём месте, мрачная гармония царит здесь. Souls to Deny - один из образцов истинного technical brutal death metal для меня, ни один из компонентов стилевого тэга я не подвергаю сомнению.
Возможно, любимый релиз Suffocation (хотя они по-своему все любимые, включая Breeding The Spawn)

Наилюбимейший из "новоделов" Удушливых...да и вообще самый любимый в их творчестве.
Что хорошо, что Suffocation всегда отлично умели играться со сменой темпов и здесь в "Отверженных..." это им удалось лучше всего, трек-лист не делиться на "быстрые" и "медленные" телеги - каждая композиция - целая картина со своими особыми красками и деталями.

самая "навороченная" работа Suffocation,

но при этом здесь ни др(IMG:style_emoticons/default/12.gif) ч ради дро(IMG:style_emoticons/default/12.gif) а, а вполне осмысленные технические задумки, придающие материалу отменную бронебойность и крайнюю бескомпромиссность - внатуре (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile1.gif) интересно слушается (IMG:style_emoticons/default/metaler.gif)

по части тега, не совсем понятно, почему сначала стоит "Brutal" - как по мне, прежде всего это брутал, а уже потом техникал. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hmm.gif)

В этом альбоме всего что нужно в достатке, ты просто ищешь в нем не то. По моему он в тройке лучших работ саффо. Остальные 2 думаю называть не стоит.

Альбом - нокаутирующий хук от супертяжеловесов в Death Metal. В нем прекрасно буквально все, что даже бессмысленно описывать этот образцово-показательный шедевр.

И всё-таки они вернулись... Причем не просто вернулись, а прихватили блудного ударника Майка Смита. Правда, увы, теперь в составе не оказалось Дуга Церрито: вторым гитаристом стал Guy Marchais из Pyrexia (эти тоже из Нью Йорка). Не могу сказать, чтоб Майк Смит продолжал удивлять техникой на фоне других драммеров нулевых, как это было в сравнении с драммерами начала 90-х, но собственный характерный почерк у него определённо есть. А ещё Саффо на этом альбоме стали квартетом: без отдельного басиста, причем часть партий баса записал бессменный гитарист Terrance Hobbs, а часть партий - всё тот же Mike Smith. В музыке за время перерыва революций не произошло и альбом ожидаемо продолжил линию Pirced From Within с поправкой на чуточку более сухой саунд, в результате чего сабж звучит чуточка легче и не так утрамбовывает в асфальт. Но это исключительно из-за звука, риффы всё такие же тяжеленные и заковыристые. Альбом не очень часто балует высокими скоростями (хотя они тут есть), он больше нацеливает слушателя на смакование риффовых лабиринтов и душевных соло. Выделю Surgery of Impalement (клип к ней обошёл различные компиляции) и предпоследнюю Immortally Condemned.

10/12. Отлично, но до Pierced from Within несколько не дотянули. Впрочем, сабж вполне самоценная единица.

P.S. Записывались на этот раз в FullForce Studios, мастеринг проходил в Visceral Sound.

Очень достойное возвращение. Реальное удушение. Для меня этот альбом на третьем месте после Pierced From Within (1995) и Effigy of the Forgotten (1991). Тогда их глаза еще горели.

Добавлю, они еще и на Bloodoath горели и дымили не уступая сабжу.
Другой разговор, что с альбомом Souls To Deny они вернулись из небытия, и от самого этого факта уже подгорало мощно в нетерпении услышать от легенды хоть что-то новое.
А уж тем, что альбом не пошел по пути, вызвавшем лично у меня некоторые опасения Despise the Sun, а именно с реверансом Pierced from Within,
уже само по себе заслужило быть названным альбомом/событием года, точно помню как любил погорланить

Альбом - нокаутирующий хук от супертяжеловесов в Death Metal. В нем прекрасно буквально все, что даже бессмысленно описывать этот образцово-показательный шедевр.

Немного дополню себя же.
Есть альбом на первопрессе в CD-варианте от 2004 года и в новодельном LP-варианте от 2018.
Если с диском все более-менее понятно, что там не иначе как отлично. То виниловая версия раздает таких лихих вертух и настолько оживляет саунд, что и без того хорошее впечатление от альбома достигает уровня мерила, с которым сравниваются все остальные записи.
Со временем появилось некое пресыщение от культовых Effigy of the Forgotten и Pierced From Within, где есть вопросы к звуку и продакшену, не смотря на наличие горящих глаз, именно на Soul to Deny Suffocation раскрыли свой потенциал максимально - и в сонграйтерской части, и в инженерной.

В моём видении Третья и последняя вершина творчества коллектива. Первая и вторая - дебют и Пронзённый Изнутри, соответственно.
Соулс Ту Денай - один из самых удачных Камбэков что я слышал. Альбом в плане основательности композиций стоит на ступени Пирсд, а может и выше, но с таким крутым звуком, что просто заслушиваешься: обьёмно, структурированно-рельефно, тяжело (чего то такого же кажется пытались добиться на Деспайз Зе Сан, но получилось в полной мере здесь).
