Sabre Dance 02:14 ****************************** Total playing time: 10:18 Session's Interview with Doom & Festerdead Extended info It all began in 1993. Being influenced by the Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Pungent Stench, Disharmonic Orchestra, Atrocity, Righteous Pigs etc., Beerdegungs Lauten decided to play brutal, very unusual music for Armenia. Doom & Festerdead were previously involved in the thrash metal band called Demon Spirit. One can describe them as an armenian copy of Slayer. After some abortive attempts to play more brutal music, they made a decision to leave Demon Spirit and make their own band. So, they started searching for other members. The metal scene was actually rising in Armenia in early 90s and there were a lot of metalheads that wanted to be involved in a metal band, but it turned out that nobody wants to play grind core/death-metal. Finding a rehearsal room was also a pain in the ass, because in those years Armenia was in very bad condition - no electricity, state of war, etc. But those things couldn't stop Doom & Festerdead to at least go on making their music at home without drums and trying to find a bass player. Finding the second guitar player was quite difficult too, but that worried them less. Soon Timur joined the band as a second guitar player. He was also addicted to death metal, but his stay in the band wasn't long. Then the idea was born to invite Dowen to play bass. Dowen and Festerdead were playing together before in the short-term project "Aggel". The next step was the rehearsal room. A small room was rented at the scientific institution (Armgiprodor), which was outside of Yerevan (it took an hour and a half to get there). That was the autumn of 1993. The winter was dead period, because of no electricity, no transportation and a bunch of snow. The spring '94 came with an excellent offer. The other armenian band Dumbarton Oaks had a rehearsal room in Yerevan, but without recording equipment. Beerdigungs Lauten solved the problem with the equipment and the two bands started sharing the rehearsal room together. After two months their first demo - Slay the close of yours - was recorded. It took 12 hours to finish it. In those times were only two recording studios in Yerevan, Ardzaganq and Asparez, and though the equipment was better in Asparez the band decided to go with Adrzagank because they knew some of the head staff of that studio. The demo consist of three songs - Slay the close of yours, Psychosis/Paroxysm and With God's help. The band's good friend, Vgo, provided them with the lyrics for the last song. After the demo was recorded the band was invited to the "Barev" TV program which was Beerdegung Lauten's first appearance on TV. After that show some rumors started to spread, saying that the "Slay the close of yours" demo was not made by Beerdigungs Lauten, it's some other unknown band, who's recordings BL staff pretends to be as their own, but those rumors dissapeared as soon as Beerdigungs Laten gave it's first live show. The band's live program started on July 30, 2004 on the first day of "Music 5" Festival which took place in Gloria Hall. That day Beerdigungs Lauten shared the stage with bands like Empyray, Dumbarton Oaks, Vostan Haiots and Maximum. Dramber from Dumbarton Oaks was invited to play guitars, because Doom decided to concentrate only on vocals. Besides their demo content Beerdigungs Lauten also introduced 2 new songs, the ones that were written by Dramber, but were rejected to be played by Dumbarton Oaks because the songs didn't match their music criteria. The concert was a huge success, in spite of the fact that the music was way too brutal for most of the people in the hall. Beerdigungs Lauten also played another gig on the closing day of the Music 5 festival, which was even more brutal because of the heavier sound. The next festival was even bigger and longer, it was called "Gaudeamus 1" aka "Music for students 1" and consisted of multiple concerts held in various universities of Yerevan. For this festival Ven was invited as a session second guitarist for a more brutal sound and the result was perfect. In total 5 live performances were played by Beerdigungs Lauten during the Gaudeamus festival during which new cover songs were introduced, "Sabre Dance" by an armenian composer Aram Khachaturian and "Genital Grinder" by Carcass. In 1995 prominent line-up changes accured. Festerdead quit the band and was replaced by Aro. Besides singing Doom also took the position of the guitarist and because Dramber and Ven were only session musicians the band was in need of a constant guitarist which was found in the face of Trush. With this lineup Beerdigungs Lauten showed up at the second "Gaudeamus" festival and played a concert that showed the band's progression towards more death metalish sound rather then grindcore. Some new songs were played, including a cover of Morbid Angel's "Day of Suffering". Shortly after that concert Beerdigungs Lauten disbanded Register
