Как-то давно я услышал одну песню с этого альбома - The Drowning Years. Это просто-таки поразительная вещь - цепляющая, искренняя, пронизывающая, душевная, мелодичная, хитовая! С тех пор было желание найти весь альбом - и вот альбом, наконец, у меня. Поиски стоили того: помимо шедевральной The Drowning Years здесь имеются ещё две композиции, близкие по уровню к уже названной - феноменально красивая Voice In The Wind и кавер корифеев Candlemass величественная Epistle No 81. Надо сказать, весь альбом окрашен своей неповторимой атмосферой, какой-то своеобразной теплотой и воздушностью. Например, паузы между песнями заполнены шелестом волн, ласково выбегающих на берег моря, криками чаек... Это всё гармонирует с характером самой музыки - эффектным чистоголосым вокалом, величественными клавишными пассажами, лёгким симфонизмом. Главное, что делает эта музыка - она вызывает чувство (не это ли первично, вообще, в музыке!?) - чувство светлой грусти, лёгкой печали, ностальгии. Epic-doom-metal-коллектив из Вирджинии (США) While Heaven Wept записал не просто альбом, а нечто большее - по крайней мере, отличающее его от тысяч других альбомов. 9.5/10

ну а про то,что из дума сделали готики и некоторые детстеры я вообще пацтулом, как сейчас модно говорить. кстати, WHW упоминали Арво Пэрта, эстонского композитора - послушать б его.

Повар и попс у них на последующих альбомах, тут же красивый трад думец.
рискну посоветовать хотя б кавер Кэндлмэсс по-внимательней послушать - очень красиво и достойно в рамках жанра!
