Godcursed was first conceived by sole member Chris Shaver (MORBID DARKNESS, HYBRIDS OF EXILE, WORMS OF THE BIRTH) in 1999 but did not come to fruition until late 2004 with the release of a 2 song self-titled demo. Spring 2005 saw the release of a debut album, 'Domain', which was modelled as somewhat of a continuation from Chris's first band, MORBID DARKNESS. After a couple of years, the follow-up was released, titled 'Past Life Strife'. This effort had shifted in style from dark Death Metal to more melodic Thrash and explored some newer themes. In mid-2008 a third album, 'The Blood Door' was released, which boasted a seamless 75 minute barrage of Death Metal both in the vein of the debut and offering something new as well. 2009's 'Sunrise Ad Subnoctem' was somewhat of a tribute album showcasing most of the material which was released from MORBID DARKNESS between 1991 and 1994, mostly reworked or altered to feature newer themes and/or new song structures. In 2010, a fifth album, 'Abyss', was released which held true to a mostly Death Metal style with some melodic and thrashy undertones reminiscent of the 2007 material. 2013 will hold many surprises for fans and announcements will be forthcoming regarding some very ambitious ideas starting as soon as July.
