На метал-архивах данный альбом имеет наибольший рейтинг во всей дискографии Nevermore. Но я не считаю Dreaming Neon Black лучшим альбомом группы - скорее, наоборот, считаю его в чём-то неудачным. Во-первых, здесь совершенно другой звук, чем на первых трёх релизах команды. Да, важно не повторяться, но на сей раз, по-моему, ребята со звуком не угадали. Более проговый, чем обычно, материал в таком звуке звучит, конечно, необычно. Собственно, новый саунд, оптимизизует, прежде всего, звучание именно прогрессив-составляющей. Но на всякого мудреца довольно простоты - интересный, в целом, материал звучит не оптимально. И даже гениальный вокал Уоррела Дэйна, как ни удивительно, в этот раз не выдаёт всей своей прелести. Какие же вещи можно здесь выделить? Прежде всего, конечно, The Fault of the Flesh, и ещё - Beyond Within и I Am the Dog. Имеется и минус в плане затянутости времени общего звучания - альбом звучит более часа. (Последняя вещь медляк Forever длится 9:20!) Таким образом, 3-й полноформатник Nevermore получился со своими плюсами и минусами, кому-то он очень понравится, кому-то не совсем. 8/10

Группа номер один для любителей тяжёлой музыки с чистым вокалом. Конечно, есть множество power и проговых примеров, но сейчас речь о действительно тяжёлой музыке.
Музыка структурально подчинена вокалу, и это самый верный путь сонграйтинга. Поясню. Существует два пути. Первый: сочинить музыку и сверху положить вокал. Второй: сочинить отдельно независимую вокальную линию, а музыку написать вокруг основной идеи. Второй путь как раз и позволяет написать наиболее развитое произведение, т.к. в первом случае возможности вокальной линии ограничиваются музыкой. Во втором же случае возможности музыкального развития никак не сдерживаются имеющейся вокальной линией.
Отдельно хочется отметить прекрасную работу звукорежиссёра. И соло-гитару (Jeff Loomis) - соло безупречны, особенно в плане саунда и места в миксе.
Вторая половина альбома кажется несколько сильнее первой. Особенно тронули композиции 'Cenotaph' и 'Forever'.

Очень необычный альбом. На мой слух, в нем преобладают медленные композиции, не то, что б баллады, но медленно-грувовые, что-ли.
Есть, конечно и быстрые, с них то и начинается альбом. Но за душу трогают именно неспешные, среднетемповые, ну и медленные, даже
я б сказал, лиричные. Вокал на этом альбоме, на мой взгляд наиболее ярко подчеркнут, возможно даже, что весь фокус сводиться на нем,
как ни на одно другом их альбоме, и также Dreaming Neon Black отличается очень специфичным, шероховатым и холодным звучанием, от части похожим на Politics on extasy, и на 100% является полной противоположность звучанию Dead heart....
И меня как раз поражают своей красотой именно средне и медленные композиции, такие как I Am the Dog, Dreaming Neon Black, The Lotus Eaters,
All Play Dead, Cenotaph очень необычна на фоне альбома, созерцательно-отрешеная песня!
Ну и конечно Forever, слова из которой можно бы было и поместить как эпитафию:

I'll meet you in the dreamtime
Whenever you call me I'll go under, I'll swim through you

You are forever in my heart you never died
You are forever I still wonder where you are
I know you're dreaming neon black
