Extended info
Wizard Rifle is a Portland, Oregon duo that features guitarist/vocalist Max Dameron and drummer/vocalist Sam Ford. Their sound teeters on experimental rock that can be compared to other two man acts such as Hella or Lightning Bolt, but also incorporates elements of metal and stoner rock that are similar to The Melvins, Torche, or Queens of the Stone Age. Even though this familiarity is upfront and apparent in their sound, Wizard Rifle crossbreeds their musical ideas to create an avant-garde sludge metal assault that will make any naysayer think twice about accusing them of living in the shadows of their influences. Intricate grooves and distorted guitar riffs, walls of reverb and feedback, flashy hard hitting drumming, and strangely sung vocal melodies are showcased on this debut record that embraces its eccentric oddities just as much as its heavy metal swagger. © Grandpa Capra
Noodly math rock duo with a serious fetish for stoner-doom fuzz. © Sammy O'Hagar
