A blend of typical US metal, added with some Iced Earth and Judas Priest, and a touch of "keep it true" heavy metal. That's what you get from Seventh Calling. Original? Not really, but who needs originality anyway? If it is played like it should be, a lack of originality shouldn't be a problem.

When I first listened to this album, I feared this would be 'same old, same old', probably because of the two opening songs, 'cause when "Faces of Deception" began, my opinion turned 180°. The vocals sounded more raw and were less trying to be some ultra-high pitched US metalish vocals. Not only the vocals became better, but also the music was a bit more aggressive and thrashy. Like I said, it reminded me of some Iced Earth songs. After that comes the 'creepy' heavy metal song (nowadays a lot of groups have one) "Fight for Your Life", like it was first heard with Priest's "Night Crawler". I applaud such songs, and therefor this song's also my favorite on the album. In "Mercyless" the vocals just blow me out of my socks, I get ghoosebumps by hearing the aggressive tones and the song makes my brain tremble. This is pure Priest worship! When a band does it on a brilliant level like this, they have my sympathy and attention. After "Mercyless" the songs tend to go a bit off, but nothing te be real worried about.

A pure and true heavy metal album with no bullshit, played like pro's and with their heart's on the right place.
