After a 17-year hiatus, Torn Within has emerged to release their debut album, featuring former members of Suicide Silence. With their original run taking place between 2002 and 2004 in Southern California, the band released a series of demos and performances at the legendary Showcase Theater (Corona, CA), sharing the stage with the likes of Cattle Decapitation, All Shall Perish, and 25 Ta Life. Upon the band's break up, guitarist Rick Ash and bassist Mike Bodkins would join Suicide Silence (Josh Goddard, Mitch Lucker, and Chris Garza) where the line-up would go on to write and record "Bludgeoned to Death" along with the 2005 self-titled EP.
Today, Torn Within's members are scattered across the country, led by front man Justin Smith, (active United States Marine Corps drill instructor). Torn Within’s music is violent and textured, with dissonance and intensity. They pay homage to early metal concepts from Celtic Frost, Slayer, and Cannibal Corpse.
