Extended info
Absolutely killer split by these two projects that should require no introduction.
M.O. returns after last year's full-length, "Anthems for Brotherhood", with a sound that is definitely closer to that of the "Blood" demo, which is personally my favorite FO recording. Mixing the Folk and orchestral-influenced triumphant melodies and solar optimism of projects like Eisenwinter and Nécropole, similar to "Blood" this material sees the project going further into songwriting with more varied structures and intricate riffing, always accompanied by the stomping, marching drums, mixing their usual sense of urgency and victory with a heavier feeling of nostalgia.
Eye of Shepherdess release with this split their third output, since the name change from Batilda. After 2019's blazing self-titled full-length and last year's killer "Howling Remnants of a Forgotten Race" EP, this material follows on a similar path. Continuing with its very idiosyncratic guitarwork, EoS craft a sound that feels both ancient, heathen, as a blade forged in fire and vengeance, with some resemblance being heard with Antimessiah's intricate and fratic triumphalism, but also utterly original and oddly contemporary with some of its peers in Kestrel, Grizelda, Grand Mood, etc.
Released on cassette via Unmatched Dominance. LP version to follow in cooperation with Final Discipline.
