Extended info
A candidate for most appropriate album/EP title of the year. This EP is trashy, chaotic hardcore, played by no doubt stinky blokes in sweaty pubs. A completely unpretentious fusion of punk and metal that panders to no trends or fads whatsoever. In fact, the opposite is the case.
Having said that, there is still skill in the composition and execution of the six tracks on offer here. It takes talent and then long hours of hard work in the practice room, both as individual players and as a band, to play with such ferocious precision. And King Parrot infuse some nice dynamics into their sound as well, as opposed to simply bringing a wall of blast beat driven noise. There’s certainly thrashy moments, but they are interspersed with some nice fat grooves and breakdowns that break things up nicely. And singer Matt Young howls his lungs up out front as if his life depends on it.
This ain’t music for the faint of heart. If your taste in ‘heavy’ music sits in between Evanescence and Nickleback, it’s probably best to avoid this release. If you favour raw, unapologetic punk, metal and hardcore, track The Stench of Hardcore Pub Trash down and listen the f*ck out of it. Then go check them out live.
