While their previous albums "were" post-black this release is not black metal (besides the vocals). This is more in line with post-metal/hardcore & shoegaze bands like hopesfall or suis la lune

Well the beginning track sounds like something elton john would write. and the rest of the album has a dinosaur jr/appleseed cast vibe. i dont hear much black metal (or even metal) other than in the vocals

Bathory88, Yes, it's all clear that on this album they have decided creatively to focus on alternative rock bands, some oldschool post rock and etc.
But! I can identify without problems black metal-related stuff. As I said, with each release they are farther and farther from their original music. I suspect that the next release really can not be identified as black metal-related (already now they are published on the label, which focuses on the publication of a completely different music.)

Не без интереса слушаю всякие блэкгейзы, пост блэкроки и тому подобное. И иногда попадаются прям очень интересные и приятные записи, но здесь все начиная от всратой облоги и заканчивая не выразительной музыкальной составляющей, наводит на мысль что в этом поджанре хипстерская гегемония ведет семимильными шагами к тотальному упадку в плохом смысле слова. Хех, если уж у сабжа нет "выразительной музыкальной составляющей", тогда все остальные "блэкгейзы, пост блэкроки и тому подобное" и подавно бибу трогают.
При первой прослушке этого альбома так и порывался, не дослушав, написать сакраментальное "на прошлом было лучше" и что вообще передо мной какой-то ординарнейший построк через призму блэкгейза. Но тут, во второй половине пластинки, пошли реально красивые темы. Придётся расслушивать.

Да, последние две вещи - лучшие на альбоме (хотя, практически в каждой есть своя изюминка). Гитаристы (в отличие от множества других групп смежных жанров) не лишены чувства мелодии, есть очень цепляющие пассажи. При всем моем скепсисе к группе должен признать, что новый диск реально неплох, хоть скрим иногда и выглядит чужеродным элементом.

Очень сильно напомнили японцев Envy, особенно образца 2006 года. Без мерзкого вокала, чисто инструментально - очень приятно слушать.
