Extrication was written at a time when it felt like everyone in the band was pulling away from people, places, and things in our lives and searching for something else. We formed a band in the darkest part of the pandemic with the need to do something different.
The album is the result of this time. Some of these riffs were written on guitar years ago without an amp or effects and other parts were written in the moment at rehearsal. It is the culmination of personal and political darkness everyone will experience in life. It is about torture, death, abandonment, imprisonment, eternal damnation, and universal cycles of violence.
Recorded with the inimitable Erol Ulug at Bright Lights Studios, it was mixed by him and Ryan Beitler before being mastered by Ulug.
In addition to guitars, bass, drums, and vocals, there are loops, upright bass, and synth tracks found on the record to round it all out.
