Initially Blóðrú recorded old school black metal heavily influenced by the Norwegian 2nd wave of black metal of the early 1990's, which was quite evident on the debut album, The Death Of The Spirit.
However it has now transformed into something more boundary pushing, drawing also from such genres as doom, ambient, neo-folk and industrial, which is clearly audible on Old Europa Death Chants, and will also be evident on future releases.

Blóðtrú should not be considered a genre band, locked on one specific style, but rather a project circling around a certain set of spiritual ideas.

Blóðtrú is neither a political nor a religious project per se, and is not connected to any such movement or organisation whatsoever, but stands in clear opposition to the Modern World and thus hails all who support this struggle.
