Originally formed as a side project of Thomen Stauch, Savage Circus became his main band when he left Blind Guardian.
Piet Sielck suggested he contact Jens Carlsson and Emil Norberg from Persuader as their band played similar stuff to the old Guardian sound Stauch was keen to return to.
Thomen was forced to take a break from touring throughout 2006 due to "serious private problems." He was replaced onstage by Thomas Nack of Iron Savior. Stauch was released from the band in August 2007 after failing to show any signs of returning.
