Additional Notes
The band Rahvira was formed in 2003–2004 as a manifest of the unwavering spirit of Armenian music. Founders Tigran Rahvira (Karapetyan) (guitar) and Garegin Vagharshakyan (drums) aimed to create music that reflects the strength, sorrow, and eternal struggle of the Armenian people. They were soon joined by Gorg Khachaturyan (bass guitar) and Gor Korkhmazyan (vocals). This lineup marked their debut performance on April 23, 2005, sparking a wave of innovative sound in the Armenian rock and metal music scene.
In 2006, Garegin, Gor, and Gevorg left the band. However, Tigran Rahvira, inspired by the group's initial achievements, decided to continue and recruited Areg (vocals) and Mikael (bass guitar). Together, they recorded the single "The Symphony of Death," which became a catalyst for the band’s future endeavors.
Rahvira creates music within the metal genre (specifically black metal), characterized by dark and cool melodies that delve into the depths of Armenian history, national identity, and philosophy. The band's themes, with lyrics written exclusively in Armenian, revolve around the symbols of the Armenian people's suffering and glory. Tigran Rahvira is the sole author of all songs, embodying the spirit and narrative of the band in his work.
Between 2007 and 2008, material for three albums was written, culminating in their recording in 2009, solidifying Rahvira's musical path. From 2010 to 2015, the band released five albums with the support of various labels. During 2011–2016, Rahvira engaged in active concert performances, collaborating with different musicians to introduce Armenian metal music to audience.
Since 2016, the band paused live performances to focus on new creative ideas. Together with Alexander Arson (Muradyan) (vocals), Tigran Rahvira began recording songs with renewed vigor, breathing life into the band's core ideas. From 2017 to 2024, they re-recorded old songs and composed new ones, continuously upholding the relentless spirit of Rahvira and serving as guardians of Armenian metal music
The band's name as written in Armenian script is Ռահվիրա, which means "Pioneer".
