Additional notes:
From left to right:
David Gray (drums), Jason Mendonça (vocals, guitars), Matt Wilcock (guitars), Peter Benjamin (bass).
Jason and David formed Akercocke after the split of Salem Orchid (Gbr). David had also formed a short-lived project called Church Of Satan in-between the two bands.
Jason appeared on Labrat's record and Hecate Enthroned's most recent album, Redimus.
Akercocke participated in the "Celtic Frost Tribute - Order of the Tyrants", released by Black Lotus Records in 2003, covering the song "Mesmerized".
Something people may find awkward about Akercocke being a "black/death act" is that they perform wearing suits/formal clothing. The alleged reason is that they believe their music should sound great and their looks should match it as well as debunking the common stereotype about Satanic music and its musicians.
In May 2007 Akercocke appeared on the BBC debate show Nolan Live to defend their right to play a gig in Northern Ireland after Christian groups had petitioned to have it cancelled due to the band's lyrical content.
