Extended info
Understatement is an 8-song disc although I only have the CD-R of the disc. If I'm not mistaken, this disc was never released officially.
Hubi Meisel - Vocals (on New Beginning) (Book of Reflections, Maeve of Connacht, Dreamscape (Ger))
Trying to research this band is an enigma of sorts, The bands own site doesn't even acknowledge the release of a full length cd, only a 4 song demo. Well this is a full length cd, and the music is quite formidable for the progmetal market. Fronted by ex-Dreamscape vocalist Hubi Meisel, the band has very strong musicianship at every instrument, and has a very similar sound to Dreamscape, mainly because of Meisels unique voice. If you are not familiar with Dreamscape, they are a very technical/melodic band that follows closely to DreamTheater's formula, of long, complex instrumental sections, catchy vocals, and melodies, superlative musicianship, and great production, well Scenes also has this same quality and this is a fine recording, what happened to prevent the band from continuing is a question to many. The band is one of many that have adopted the DT-like format, and should appeal to anyone who likes DT, as they are not a cheap imitation. Other bands that are in this style are: Empty Tremor, Dreamscape, Arkhe, Zen, Aztec Jade, Andromeda.
