Extended info
The band "Northless" have this new CD out on "Halo Of Flies Records" and it is basically 2 guys and 4 tracks of some angry but dense Doom.Interesting point about the packaging which i think is real cool is that this comes in a LP sleeve with the CD mounted on a n an 11x17 poster insert.More bands need to do this, like getting the best of both worlds in one nifty package. The music here is for the most part angry, dense psychotic tunes with a lot of dynamics interspersed with quieter more somber moments that remind me of "Pelican".The rest of the tunes enter in a more "Sleep" mode while driving the songs home with a powerful brand of groove rock. All of the 4 tracks here are good but with the style being a mixture of Doom and Post Metal they may not be instantly accessible like some other bands in the Doom Metal genre. There is a bit of a "Swans" meet "Isis" feel to some of the musical passages here so if you looking for something more traditional this wont be for you.It is however 30 minutes of powerful dark and dense tunes that is worth checking out.Musically the band have enough tricks up their sleeves to please the average Doom fan and also people with a more experimental edge to their taste in music will appreciate this release.8/10 ©
