Alchemy X was formed in 1994 in New York and was formed by Chris Fox (guitar),Rob Schreiber (guitar),Steve Ratchen (bass),Chris Scorses (drums).After years of writing,arranging and rehearsing,they released their debut album "A Delicate Balance" in 1999.
Vocalist Martin Morin left the band and was replaced by Bob Mitchell in time for ALCHEMY X's second album,2003's "11:59:59".
Mitchell has since been replaced by Tom Engel and the band is in the process of recording it's 3rd studio album.
ALCHEMY X have been compared to bands like DREAM THEATER and FATES WARNING,SYMPHONY X and DEFYANCE,but can at times sound heavier.They also take a unique approach to their sound,incorporating two guitarists playing 7-string guitars and a bassist playing a 7-string bass,adding furious riffing,bottom-end heaviness and virtuosity to their music.
Highly recommended for all fans of progressive metal.
