"Umwelt" is the newest demo by ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPTS and it is dedicated to German-Estonian philosopher and biologist Jakob Johann von Uexküll (1864-1944). His legacy has been paramount and it influenced several contemporary and subsequent intellectuals. His name is related to the development of the concept of "environment" ("Umwelt") within the subject of biology, in which every animal lives confined in its "world-environment", a world distinct yet connected to other world-environments. Such concept has been re-elaborated further by other intellectuals and it is one of the foundations of anthropological philosophy.
On the musical side, IILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPTS veers into more blackened doom-laden territories, with three slower songs featuring wailing melodic leads and funereal drumming, reminiscent of a raw version of The Ruins of Beverast at times.
