Is it as mainstream as their previous album? Because the videos I've seen are flat sounding and there is nothing really sulfurous.

I love the new Album and i hated the last two. Watain is back into Black Metal. This is the sucessor to Casus Luciferi !!

Track "Teufelsreich" seems highly de mysterii dom Sathanas inspired !!!

Well it's late swedish style, which always seemed a bit over the top melodic. But it's still Black Metal...more than the previous 2-3 Albums for sure (at least to me) :D

I disagree.
This band is quite overrated and has almost done nothing outstanding in its carier to get the status of "Watain is good in any form".
This album could be good. Lets wait for 320 as here we cannot ear anything. But I am afraid that the sound is really flat and strugled. And the first feeling is that they are faking the back to the roots.

I have the feeling that a lot of people hate on Bands because they get more popular.
I listened to Watain when nobody knew them.. And i loved them. They don't make something different or exceptional. They just make it good. Yes the last 2-3 Albums were not good. But what is the point on hating Bands who release a new Album in the spirit of their old days and succeed with it? At this point poeple just hate on the Band because they got more famous or mainstream.
The new Album is 35 Minutes long with no ballad, no slow track, and a pretty old school production. What do you want more?

But i've seen that hate on Bands who become mainstream and are "overhyped" so many times now... Watain, batushka, mgla, deathspell omega, perturbator, ghost etc.

Always the same old song... I am only judging the quality not the popularity. I defend popular bands that dont deserve what is said by people here too. Stupid statement: Deathspell Omaga never became mainstream btw. Their last effort is the most insane they ever released.

Your post was not the reason for what i wrote..i've seen the outrage about former underground Bands/now more popular Bands on social media so many times. People should really more judge the music like you said.
If someone doesn't like it it can't be helped. Lawless darkness for example was like that for me. Most people liked it, i didn't.

About DSO.. Where i live they are pretty popular among people and a lot saw the release of kenose as their turn to a weaker sound. I always thought that is bullshit but people saw them become more popular..
