Song nr. 3: Verdronken Vlinder is a cover version of Boudewijn de Groot. One of the best songs/lyrics ever:
Roughly translated it goes something like this: Drowned Butterfly. To die like this on the water with your wings made of paper, floating about, after flying in the clouds you're floating here with your colours that fade without searching without asking finally lay down to rest forever and the flowers that you kissed odours that you knew, everything you can forget now on the water you lull back and forth To die like this on the water with your wings made of paper. As a butterfly that should be able to fly up into the blue sky as a butterfly always free and on the run for life itself I wish to die on the water, but that's a care for later I want to fly now like a butterfly and lull on the leafs of the flowers But I can't reach that high, so I fly only in my dreams Always I'm on the run for life As a butterfly that should be able to fly up into the blue sky To live I thought you would have to be a butterfly To fly far away from all life, all pain But I'm no longer bothered by jealousy of a butterfly When even butterflies have to die I'm not gonna waste my joy I can live without flying Why should i bother any longer About a butterfly that drowned in may/me* To live I really don't have to be a butterfly anymore. * Note: May*Rhun is pronounced the same way in dutch. The original states 'May', but the reference to 'Me' is clear. You can hear the ending lines of the original song at the end of the cover-version. And to finish it off: Boudewijn de Groot playing the song live on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_mb1ePU1gk (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) |
