This time, longtime collaborator Cronin joins the project as a bassist as well, giving the bass a much stronger presence and bringing a new layer to the band’s established sound.

To mark the 42nd anniversary of their formation in 1981, MAD BUTCHER reunited for a triumphant concert at Resonanzwerk in Oberhausen on January 28, 2023. Drawing a passionate crowd of longtime devotees and new enthusiasts alike, the band delivered a powerhouse setlist brimming with timeless classics and unexpected gems. The performance underscored the enduring legacy of a group that has long been revered as trailblazers in the German heavy metal scene.
Captured with audio sourced directly from the soundboard and dynamic multi-camera video, this CD+DVD edition preserves the raw energy and intensity of the event. It serves as a testament to MAD BUTCHER's influential role in shaping the genre, having shared stages with iconic acts such as SODOM, HELLOWEEN, SLAYER, and EXODUS during their original run from 1981 to 1992.
Formed in Essen in 1981, MAD BUTCHER helped shape the German heavy metal scene. Their debut album, Metal Lightning Attack (1985), is a landmark of speed metal, blending aggressive riffs with themes of violence and metal, followed by their second album, Metal Meat (1987), cementing their place in the vibrant German scene. After a hiatus, the band reactivated in 2021, with the current lineup featuring Harry Elbracht (vocals), Rolli Borchert (guitars), Reinhard Gollan (drums), and Nihil Baxter (bass).

Громыка выпускает новую песню, которая вписывается в ряд песен, посвящённых различным профессиям. Слушателям уже полюбились «Моряки и художники», «Пристав Марат», «Артём». Новая песня Громыки называется «Шпион». Профессия шпиона, как и профессия учёного, является олицетворением древнего гностического девиза «Хочу всё знать!». Было бы невозможно отличить учёного от шпиона, если бы не их костюмы: учёный носит белый лабораторный халат, смешные очки в роговой оправе, у него всегда растрёпаны волосы. Другое дело шпион: прежде всего, это надвинутая на глаза шляпа (т. наз. «федора»), очки с зеркальными линзами (как правило, RB3025 или похожие) и длинный светлый плащ с кушаком и поднятым воротником. Этот костюм гарантирует шпиону неузнаваемость во всём, что он делает. Момент узнавания шпиона всегда радостен как для узнавшего, так и для узнанного — похожая ситуация случается на бале-маскараде.


Сегодня, в день весны и труда, шпион, как и учёный, повар, рок-музыкант и представители других нужных профессий, сомкнув ряды, плечом к плечу шагает по планете, славя май, труд и весну. Присоединимся же к ним и мы.

Initially founded in 2006, Bergtagen was songwriter and musician Jon Rosenthal's emotive, atmospheric dark metal outlet. Fueled by teenage angst and an obsession with artists like Agalloch, Empyrium, and Ulver, Bergtagen released an amateur demo later that year, and, with the help of a few friends along the way, Bergtagen quickly amassed a vast arsenal of songs before disbanding in 2008. Now lost to the ages, only a fraction of this old material survived in old Guitar Pro files and in Rosenthal's own memory.

In a fit of nostalgia, Rosenthal revived Bergtagen with his bandmate in other projects (drummer and acoustic guitarist Anthony W. of Stellar Descent, Boreal, Starless Domain et al) in late 2025, recording more matured versions of the only two songs that survived this 20 year slumber, plus a partially reimagined cover of Agalloch's "You Were But A Ghost In My Arms," as the "In Forests Eternal" EP. Mixed and mastered by Spenser Morris (who has also produced material by Panopticon and more) and featuring atmospheric art by Rotting Reign, Bergtagen has truly been brought to life once more.

Rosenthal and W. have begun composing and recording more Bergtagen material that will surface over the next few years.

We want to thank everyone who was in the band along the way - Shin Jung Woo, Mike Nelson, John Sharpe, Mike Fioretti, John Becker, and Andrew Scherer - as the survival of this material would not have been possible without the memories we shared together all those years ago.
