| Nov 13 2010, 12:38:12 | Atheist - Jupiter (2010) | ...just a good album. I must admit that I (and surely many others here) have expected much more. The amazing thing is that "Kelly" still sounds the same. almost the same as 17 years ago. recording reminds strongly of the old works, maybe a bit modern. It's Atheist, the new Atheist. Songs like "Live and Live Again" or "Faux King Christian" are very strong, pure passion, pure Atheist. Unfortunately, without the bass orgies as before. I think with Tony, the album would still sound more like Atheist and meet the expectations of fans. Without this characteristic bass sound its just a piece missing in the puzzle. Hopefully Kelly will also notice it at some point... But so... it remains a good comeback, for the most part with good songs. 8/10 ps: compared to many other reunions Atheist are so far the best. |

It is true that the early and late phase of the band sound different, but to describe the first two albums as "pure thrash" is wrong! Listen accurate to the song structures and tempo variations, then you will realize that their music has a progressive context. |

Anacrusis have always been the more progressive thrashers. Ok, the first album sounds more like pure thrash, but has already the progressive Anacrusis note. |
