Группа из Fulda (Hessen, Germany) Edguy была основана в 1992 году, в то время участники первоначального состава (Tobias Sammet (vocals, bass), Dirk Sauer (guitar), Jens Ludwig (guitar) и Dominik Storch (drums)), еще учились в школе - им было по 14 лет. Тобиас Саммет создал эту школьную группу и фактически посвятил ей всю жизнь. Он рассказывает: "В возрасте 10 лет, в школе... я подружился с Дженсом. В то время мы и не думали создавать группу, хотя я был в восторге от музыки Iron Maiden и Helloween ('Keeper_ II' был моим первым металлическим альбомом)... А потом Дженс заимел настоящую электрогитару, и лет в 11-12 мы начали поигрывать вместе". "...и мы создали свою группу, - подхватывает рассказ гитарист Дженс Людвиг - Дурацкое "многозначительное" название, которое мы придумали, когда были молоды и глупы, мы носим и по сей день". Как они сами утверждают, своим названием они обязаны школьному учителю физкультуры, которого все за глаза звали 'Eddy Guy'. Вначале они играли кавера Deep Purple, Kiss, Ac/Dc и Iron Maiden. Вскоре у них появился кое-какой собственный материал. В 1994 и 1995 годах ребята уже выпустили две кассетные демо-записи 'Evil Minded' и 'Children Of Steel'. Но свой первый компакт-диск группа записала и издала на деньги из собственного кармана. Трата не была напрасной - 'The Savage Poetry' (1995) позволил им заключить первый контракт со звукозаписывающей фирмой AFM-records. С тех пор дела Edguy пошли в гору. В 1997 году был выпущен первый "бюджетный" альбом - 'Kingdom Of Madness'. После его выхода об Edguy заговорили многие музыкальные критики, признав у юных музыкантов невиданный творческий потенциал.
