"Первый альбом первопроходцев дроун-дума. На этом новаторском мини-альбоме длиной чуть более получаса зафиксированы эксперименты в сфере ультраскоростного минимализма. Для 1991 года темп беспрецедентно медленный. Да и сейчас превзойти старичков earth смогли лишь единицы, среди которых Стивен О’Мэлли со своими «сверхзвуковыми» проектами. Помимо скорости, есть ещё один показатель, стремящийся к нулю. Разнообразие. Формально этот альбом ближе к «нормальной» музыке, чем последующие творения. Тут даже ритм-секция сохранилась в полном составе, с барабанами. Даже вокал присутствует в одном из треков. Точнее монотонное произнесение текста на манер псалма. Впоследствии такое пение возьмут на вооружение травокуры sleep. Однако даже sunn o)) кажется более многоцветным и разукрашенным по сравнению с extra-capsular extraction. Здесь все гладко выстругано и по-спартански сыграно. Риффов как кот наплакал, но сплошь и рядом мерещатся незримые ниточки увязывающие этот mcd 1991 года с альбомами банд, появившимися на свет позднее и игравшим, вроде бы, совсем другую музыку. Звук рыхлый, ноздреватый, шершавый. Подходит к музыке earth на все сто. Альбом приобрел культовый статус не только в среде думстеров, но и среди гранжевой тусовки. Причина? Ни за что не догадаешься, кто исполняет некоторые гитарные партии на «внекапсулярном извлечении»… Курт Кобейн собственной персоной. Удивлен?
Прослушав этот альбом, становится ясно как день, откуда взялись всякого рода шумовые проекты вроде тех же sunn o)), khanate, teeth of lions rule the divine и прочие. Многое ещё не доделано и не доведено до ума, но концепция музыкантов уже ясна. Остается лишь сделать кое-какие штрихи, чем музыканты и займутся далее. ПРИГОВОР: праотец дроун-дума. За определения стиля как Atmospheric я не уверен, уверен только что это Death Metal при чем очень и очень мастерски сыгранный и интересеный в музыкальном плане. Обычно я не слушаю дэтх, но этот альбом мне понравился, поэтому и выкладываю. На металархивсах его тоже оценили на 100 %. Основой музыки является классичекое дэтовое звучание. А особенностью - самобытность, "южная окраска", (редкое) использование нестандартных для стиля (народных) инструментв, акустические вставки, и естесственно голос черного вокалиста
