For the past few years I’ve had a growing awareness that everywhere I seem to go the number 212 is somewhere around. Addresses, hotel rooms, when I glance at a clock, the code on the top of a medicine bottle. The list is literally endless. Even tonight as I was paying at Starbucks, care to guess the total on the register as I walked up to pay? Yeah, you guessed it: $2.12.

In fact, as weird as it sounds, at this point it is almost reassuring or comforting to see it. It’s like a bizarre numerical angelic entity seemingly hovering close by only to show up regularly as if to say, ”I’m still watching and it’s OK.”

A majority of the recording was done in a building with the address 212. Two different videos of roughs of the recording were of the length of 2:12. 212 has not only permeated my life, but most certainly this project.

Once people know my story they somehow seem to connect to it as well and ferret out other examples that I would have never known. Yeah, the easy stuff are facts like the NYC area code is 212, but did you know that the clock on Elvis’s plane (the Lisa Marie) is stopped at 2:12? Water boils at 212 degrees. There’s a ton of these little gems and the examples go on and on…

So with this constant numerical presence in my life it only seems fitting that the name of my next project should bear the insignia of 212.[/more]

'Cerebus Effect' was founded by drummer Patrick Gaffney and guitarist/keyboardist Joseph Walker The band combines different styles like fusion, metal, symphonic and avant-garde.Comparable groups are 'Sleepytime Gorilla Museum' and 'Djam Karet'.
They released 2 EPs ("Live at Orion" with Louis Sherman on bass and "Dark Matter" with Mike Galway on bass) prior to the full-length "Acts of Deception" in late 2005, which added keyboardist Dan Britton.
The main elements on "Acts of Deception" are Jazz-Rock ('Mahavishnu/Holdsworth' style, but also occasionally of the Canterbury style) and metal ('Planet X', 'King Crimson', 'YYZ'). There are some explorations into avant grounds and symphonic territories too, but the characterization of "Canterbury metal" might be the best way to describe the sound on "Acts of Deception".[/more]

Страсть в каждом аккорде, идея в каждой детали. “В мире очень много гитаристов, которые в своей музыке забывают о главном -мелодичности. Гитарная музыка - это не набор несовместимых аккордов, а гармоничное произведение. Моя цель - вернуть музыке утраченную мелодию и конечно же, растопить сердца людей”, - говорил сам музыкант на презентации своей пластинки.

Музыка Сфольи иногда спонтанна, иногда легко предсказуема, но всегда полна потаенного романтизма. Как бы грубо не звучали некоторые рифы, всегда остается некое таинственное, притягательное. Эдакая вариативная экзистенция инструментального рока, которую можно слушать всегда, везде и в абсолютно любой компании.
